How do you feel about the possibilty that God created the universe using scientific method? Don't you think it's possible He created the universe after developing in His mind the laws of thermodynamics? The Bible says that days to us are like years to God. So no, the Bible says nothing about the universe taking 6000 years to create. And if Adam and Eve's family were the first and only, why was Cain so afraid of someone coming upon him in his wanderings and killing him? Adam and Eve were the first family of God, not literally the first family

I don't take this as being mean....

But my answer is still a resounding 'No'

I can't picture the eternal Father in a lab coat mixing solutions in a test tube or something......God is the one who has given science it's ability.

Considering the Bible was given to people who had no idea what a microscope was, what thermodynamics entailed, how a cell multiplies, or any of the other scientific things that have been discovered by man, I would be very surprised to find out that God didn't use the physical laws to create.

When a child asks you why the sky is blue you don't set with a physics book and explain light refraction and dust. You explain in a way that helps them see the marvels of the world. As they get older and learn more you can add to your explanation. Ancient people did not have the scientific knowledge we have today. If God had explained using all the wonders of physics and thermodynamics it would have overwhelmed them. God's smart enough to know that.

Did He orchestrate the changes? Most certainly. Did He use the physical universe to do it? He's God, why shouldn't He. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone as in "I'll show you who's God. I'll just make everything appear. There what do you think of that?"

God created science; He is not affected by the rules of science. He is outside of it. He created the Laws of Thermodynamics (which deny evolution). I think what you mean is that years to us are like days to God. What the Bible is saying there is that time means nothing to God, because He is outside of time. He created all time, space and matter at the beginning. There are those who believe that each literal day of Creation actually represents thousands (or millions) of years; but this doesn't make sense when you figure how long those poor plants created on the 3rd Day would have to wait (millions of years!) for the sun to come up! No, I believe the world was created in 6 literal days about 6,000 years ago. All the symbiotic relationships that exist in the world, that show us animals who cannot exist without each other, prove that they had to be created within a very short time of each other, which also disproves gradual evolution.
And yes, the Bible does tell us that the Earth is about 6,000 years old. When you add up the ages of the patriarchs and how old they were when they had their children from Adam to Abraham, you will find that it gives an age of approximately 6,000 years for the whole Creation. You can order a longevity chart that shows this from www.drdino.com.
Adam and Eve had many more children long after Cain left the nest. Eventually, he runs into a woman. It's his sister, but he wouldn't care because he didn't grow up with her. She's just another woman to him. That would be Cain's wife. The "other people" that Cain might run into in the future would be his siblings and cousins. The human race was still very pure back then; there hadn't been enough time for genetic mutations to accumulate, so there was no danger of mutations due to inbreeding. It wasn't until the time of Moses that God said it was now forbidden to marry siblings, because by then enough bad genes had accumulated to cause problems.

Belief does not require scientific proof. But it is a good theory. I am a firm believer, that one of God's days is not the same as one Earth day. So it is possible that he did create everything in 6 days. Adam and Eve also had other children after Cain and Able. Therefore there were other humans on the Earth after Cain slue Able. Cain was afraid of them, because of God's decree that he must be killed. As far as the rest of the bible, I believe that what was written to the best of the understanding of the people writing it. God didn't have to explain anything to them, they accepted it as his word. Maybe on some things we should do the same.

No because it states in the Bible how He created the Universe. God doesnt make things up afterwards He is all knowing. He makes the Bible simple. So that all may come to Him. That is why people dont believe the Gospel because it is so simple. He arranged it that way so that all would come to Him. But now we have thinkers who are blinded by their own pride. They let Lucifer deceive them and try to discredit God. Repent and be baptized. Just because there is no other mention of others at that time Im sure there were. I believe the world was being populated at a high rate at the beginning. It doesnt take long. So there were others is why he feared being killed. Adam and Eve were the first human beings. And you and I are in the same family. Amen and Peace out......................

Actually creation was in literal human DAYS as the bible says that the day and the night were a day........if it were a thousand years that would have left MANY days and nights. But the concept that they were not the first family but just the first family of God is extremely interesting. I've never heard that theory so that is something to research. I have wondered this since according to the bible the angels and come down and procreated with man..........never knew who those people were!!!

I don't necessarily have a problem with Christians who take an alternate/non-traditional view on creation, so long as you take a fairly literal view of all of the rest of the Bible. I don't think that your exact understanding of creation is itself a salvation issue so long as you still believe in an eternal, omnipotent and omnipresent God.

For myself, I guess I take a sort of Occam's Razor approach on creation and just accept it literally. Why not, after all, if you believe in an all-powerful God. The whole debate on long days of creation, etc. is just irrelevant to me.

However if you are only going down this road to appease or to attempt to silence the mockers, I think it is a misguided exercise.

About the question about on Cain and who was he afraid of, Adam and Eve lived for nearly 1000 years (weird when you think about it, I know, but they were originally created eternal) and had many children (FWIW & if I remember correctly, about 25 according to tradition) who also in turn had children and so on... so the world became populated very quickly. Not much of their lives beyond a few essential facts are revealed.

What an observant question on your part! I think you are on the right track. Anyone truly living in the image of God reflects attributes such as yours. We did not create science but explore its amazing truths everyday. I read once about this kid who could answer complex mathematical equations without solving them. He just read the answers off a landscape in his mind. Amazing! All of Gods great creations have yet to be discovered. Keep looking. God created us to ask questions and comment on his work. We are his family, in service and in joy. Don't believe, ever, that his only desire is to have us controlled and punished by doctrines. If that were true, we would still think earth was the center of the universe.

I believe what God said in the Word but there is much He didn't say about specifics. For instance, in the chronological Bible we find that satan is kicked out of heaven between verses one and two of Genesis - who knows how much "history" occurred before satan was kicked out in the "original" earth? or how long the "battle" took between the fallen angels and God's angels of light? Cain was afraid of those who were essentially his "relatives" - I do not believe that there were any other people groups on earth that were not descended from Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were the first family in all of current existence. God told us the beginnings of our human family of the current world - and in that I don't believe He left anything important out....because it directly impacts us.

Good question. Anything's possible with God. I've never considered the first family of God, not literally the first family thing before. Interesting. There are so many questions that we'll never answer because God is SO much smarter than us we can't possibly figure it out. If we could figure it out He wouldn't be much of a God. The important thing is believing and having faith. Then the rest of it is fun to think and wonder about but you can be happy with not knowing.

It's possible sure. But all we have to base the beginning on is the bible. And the bible does not spell it out that way. If you want to stretch what the the bible is saying to make it seem scientifically possible, cool. But I will stick with the literal interpretation.

Also God is outside the relm of "time"
