Christians are sinners, they have made bad choices...but they are not alone in that. Just because you do not believe does not mean that you are not responsible for atrocities now and in past history. We have free will, but we do have a higher power to answer to...what do you have...you do and say what you want and to you its fun and funny and you answer to no one.

How can a book prevent an act of will?
If you are trying to find out if there are any atrocities that have not been comitted by Christians, then I would really be interested to see population statistics on ANY group that does not have the same list of atrocities. As soon as you come up with that, you can provide logical justification for applying the attributes of an individual to a group (rather than vice versa).

Bob is an Australian. Bob has red hair. Therefore => All Australians have red hair. See the problem with this reasoning?

Christians are only pagans who change their mind and begin to follow God. As with anything, there are those who follow better than others, and those that fail miserably. What Christianity has done, is made moral people out of barbarians, and continues to do so. Whatever wrong someone who claims to be Christian might commit, that says nothing about whether or not what they did was in line with what God wanted. Think about what GOOD Christianity has done, and you get the whole of western culture; personal rights, freedoms, an end to slavery, democracy, etc. You can take the cup-is-half-full approach, or the cup-is-half-empty approach, but either way, if there were no Christianity, then all those that truly have had their lives converted from evil to good, would still be evil, and all hell would break loose upon the planet. With no God to say "You shall not murder," what's to stop it? Christ points to the right way. Without him, we are left to our own selfish motives and evil desires which we will pursue at everyone else's expense. This is what was happening in every culture before Chrisianity came and set them free from the bondage of unfettered sin.

I'm a believer. I don't commit atrocities. I don't hate any man, although I hate what wicked men do against their neighbors. I don't lie. I don't steal. I don't cheat. I don't use people. I don't speak evil about others. I show kindness. I am generous, giving away about 1/4 of my net income every year. I volunteer my time to help at a health clinic once a month. I am courteous. I never do to others what I don't want done to me.
I believe the Bible from cover to cover, and look forward to the day that God Himself separates the wicked from the good. I wonder what side you will be found on in that day?

It has prevented them from leaving Christianity because the minute they make that decision they are no longer Christians.

Nothing can really prevent people from doing evil but people can become less inclined to do so. Many Christians use the Bible to justify attrocities while others use it to condemn them. I all lies in the way you interpret it.

Sacrificing children through the fire to devils. This is the worst atrocity.

God gave His Ownly Begotten Son, who was truly innocent/ without sin. No other sacrifice will do.

Christians are born of God, so the love of God is in their hearts. There has been a heart change, a Spiritual birth. True Christians are taken out of a wicked life style and become part of Christ Kingdom. Out of darkness into His Love Light.

Being a Christian is learning to abide in Christ Love and the Word of God. It is maturing in Christ. Studying Gods Word, teaches & matures believers in the things of God.

I trust & obey God to the best of my ability. And God has prevented or redirected me at times, to protect me from evil, or prevent a bad accident. God protects Christians 24/7. Nothing can take a child of God out of Gods protective care. If we die, we die unto the Lord, and if we live, we live unto the Lord. Whatever, we are with the Lord.

Warfare in the medieval period was more limited in scale than either the Roman wars or the wars of the 19th and 20th centuries. This could be due to the Churches moderating influence. The middle ages weren't quite as bad as people sometimes imagine.

Other than the fact that between the old and the new testiment, there are numerous passages throughout both that contridict not only there own passage but passages through both books. the constant change of what is right and what is wrong, the constant change in what the "faith" really is. the fact the this "god" gave us free will, and yet we have to conform to these rules and regulations laid out by a organization that decided who is and who is not worthy of heaven. this "organized faith" is no different that an organization such as wal-mart or ABC. You should store faith in something that takes away from you what is said that should be yours.

Actually, instead of preventing atrocities, the Bible has caused more of them. In other words, if the Bible had never existed, the world would be a far better place.

The bible is simply a tool which can be used for good or evil. the user is the one who is responsible for the results of using it.
