His chances are decent, but Wait here's the latest..."A glove dispute placed Saturday’s International Boxing Federation heavyweight championship at the SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany, in jeopardy late Friday afternoon. IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is slated to defend his title against No. 1-ranked mandatory challenger Ray “The Rainman” Austin", Check out fightnews.com for the scoop, if Wlady doesn't fight, he's lost alot of my respect.

Chances are not to good. However he is a big heavyweight, and has a punchers chance. Wvladamir's chin is not as strong as his punch. He's been floored at least six or seven times in his career. Ray and Wvladamir are virtually the same size, so in that regard there are no disadvantages. But there is always the cold hard fact that Wvladamir is the stronger, more experienced, and all around better fighter.

He has a legitimate chance (5-6). what i mean is that he will be well prepared, in great shape, very competetive, and may have a few good rounds and some chances to hurt Klitschko. I do think Klitschko will win, but think about this...
Wladimir Klitschko has fought 6 times since 2004 in this order because before 2004 he didnt really fight anybody good (other than Byrd) and also had two KO losses before 04.
Lamon Brewster (who KOd Wlad
218 Pound DaVarryl Williamson (who can punch but isnt very skilled and was easily defeated)
215 pound Eliseo Castillo (who has no power), Samuel Peter(who can punch and knocked Wlad down 3 times but was defeated by decision)
213 pound, no power Chris Byrd,
224 pound Calvin Brock (who had decent power but seemed terrified to be in the ring with Wlad)
My point is that out of the 6 boxers, 2 of them had size and power and were able to hurt Klitschko (one of those guys won because he was able to capitalize and Peter lost because he couldnt finish).
Ray Austin has size and power.
but
I still think he will lose because he has never competed with someone of Klitschko's caliber. He doesnt have nearly as much experience as Wlad and hasnt beaten a top opponent (he does have draws with Larry Donald and Sultan Ibragimov though).

Insane Unknown ~
In my opinion, I'd write a 5. The one thing that Ray has going for him is "Wlads" fragile chin, it's no longer suspect. Ray only has like 15 knockouts so he's not a heavy hitter in the heavyweight division, but he has proven he can catch a big Heavyweight. I watched his fight against Lance Whitaker and he was catching Lance all fight long. The other thing he has going for him is he's pretty close to "Wlad" in height and reach.
Wlad has fought the way better competition and he has learned so much fro Manny Steward on how to protect that fragile chin of his. "Wlad" keeps the majority of his weight on his rear foot and extends his left arm partially to keep distance between his self and his opponent.
If Ray can catch "Wlad" with his chin up in the air he might have a chance. This fight will be entertaining. My money is on "Wlad"
Thnks for the question Insane Unknown.

I'd say a 4. Austin's solid jab will keep him in the fight until the later rounds where he may get knocked out or lose a decision. Heavyweights unify the title.

Considering the chin on Klitschko, Austin has a punchers chance. If blogbaba was handicapping the fight, I'd make Klitschko a 2-1 favorite.
