BD/TG ~

This would be my dream fight. In my opinion, Alexis would sharp shoot Danny into the referee stopping the fight due tom severe cuts suffered by "Little Red" This fight would vaguely resemble Alexis's fight against Mancini. Danny was as tough as "Boom Boom" and he was the better boxer of the two, but he wasn't as strong as Ray, and we all seen what Alexis did to Ray.

Danny would come forward from the opening bell and try forcing Arguello into an all out street fight, ala Bobby Chacon, but Alexis would be too smart for this. He would use his height and reach advantage and keep the distance between himself and Danny. Danny would have his moments in the fight but Alexis's over all more accurate punches and body attack will make all the difference in this fight.

Alexis would cut Danny early and often and around the end of the 6th round the referee would go to Danny's corner in between rounds and say "I'm going to give you one more round Danny" Danny would come out like a little bull, but Alexis by this time would be able to time Danny's rushes and open the cuts even worse. The referee would have no choice but stop this fight in the 7th round.

Thanks for the outstanding question BD/TG.

Another great match up. Arguello was such a class act and pure boxer it's tough to pick against him. Lopez was a whirlwind of action and the epitome of a pressure fighter. This will shock a lot of people, but Lopez would have had the power and stamina to duplicate Pryor's fights with Arguello, the only question is would he have had the chin to withstand Arguello's counter shots?

The blogbaba thinks Danny would have been too brave for his own good and walked into a heavy shot. Nobody at that weight had Pryor's chin.

Arguello by KO in about 6.

I think Lopez is perfect for Arguello. I think Alexis eats up and spits out Little Red inside of 5 rounds. Lopez liked to brawl from the start of the fight and I think Alexis would catch him early and often. Lopez got knocked down in the first round quite a bit in his career. Granted he came back from those knockdowns but he didn't have to face Arguello in those fights that he got knocked down early in. I don't think Lopez recovers from the early knockdown against the heavy handed Arguello.

Danny Lopez has a heart of a lion and can take a lot of punishment, but cuts easy and has little defense. He is willing to trade 2 punches coming in for 1 of his. Against Arguello, Alexis being a GREAT counterpuncher, will keep Danny off balance and make him pay with a straight right hand. Taking a lot of jabs and straight right hands for 7 rounds, Danny's face will start to bleed and cause him to pick up the pace unless they stop the fight. This only encourages Alexis who will do a workmans job jabbing and moving. with Danny sensing the referee will stop the fight, he will unlease a powerful flurry of punches in desparation to knock out Alexis. Alexis will sidestep the bull rush and deliver a FINAL right hand to KO Danny in 8. KO in 8 for Alexis Arguello. It would be a highly entertaining fight. rounds would be 6 for alexis and 2 for Danny.

This would be a good fight. Lopez had good power but Arguello had a pretty good chin. Common opponent the great Ruben Oliveras. They both knocked him out. Arguello was a better boxer than Lopez and Lopez's chin is suspect. Arguello also fought better competition. Arguello tires Lopez out and knocks him out late in this fight. Good match.
