There is more hate spewed in this category than any other? I think people who have faith often appear to be hypocrites by being so judgmental of atheists like myself, or people of faiths other than their own. I think we should live and let live, we are one race 'The human race' each trying to get through this life.

I agree with you completely... I think that division in and out of religion is just an obstacle that needs to be obliterated and never thought of in the memories of humans ever again.

I agree that there is more animosity in the spiritual category than in other categories, but I don't think it comes primarily from people of faith although that happens. Most of the hostile questions are posted by unbelievers seeking to attack and stir up believers. Harsh words tend to stir up other harsh words, which some young believers haven't yet learned to recognize.

The Bible says that "A gentle word turns away wrath." I do my best to keep this in mind when I answer. I also often just ignore the more hostile or offensive questions since I know those asking them aren't really seeking to engage in reason and logic anyway.

I commend to you these wise words from 'Mayor JD':

==========
I propose rather than recruit for atheism we as a human race try and have progress regardless of religious beliefs,

Any religious persons who can't contribute to the progress of the human race, no,

All humans, includeing the religious and irreligious if they can not contribute to the progress of the human race, just needs to stay in their own isolationist state of existence.

There are some, both religious and irreligious, who actively are violent and make war,

I propose that this be fought on secular grounds with a secular military in the uniforms of modern governments,

To define the Progress of Mankind, better food yields, better medicines, etc. common goals we can all achieve.
=========

'Nuff said.

There is more hate spewed in this category, but it is because there are more atheist asking/answering questions than religious people. And most of the questions/answers are by far not serious or important. They are only asked/answered to tick off Christians.

Hi Mia,

View points are slanted. Jesus was bout love, forgiveness and everlasting life.

I believe atheists are resigned to just one life, and have unwittingly painted themselves into their own corner of self-hate.

An Atheist has to look in the mirror and believe that he has evolved from some pri-mordial muck/ape rather than a divine intelligence.

I love God more than I do myself so I have a different view in the mirror.

I hope my viewpoint didn't offend you, it wasn't meant to be hateful.

God loves you, I wish you the best for you in this life and the after life if you so choose to believe.

(I assume that "this country" is the USA)

There is more hate spewed, as you put it, because many different people are allowed to freely voice their opinions.

Let us say we ruled the USA like most mid-east countries. Now, if you are Christian (for argument's sake, it will be our national religion), you are fine. If not, we will kill you.
If you speak against our religion, we will kill you.
If you speak against the ruling party's opinions, we will kill you.

Do you see a theme?

It is not that there is more hatred here....just more spewing. In other countries, the 'spewing' would end in death...and now more spewing.

I was just thinking about that myself. I am a Christian but I do not knock other peoples beliefs. There are some Christians that do just that. I feel that Christians are attacked more than other religions but that is the way of the world. I think everyone has value.

It is funny and sad how religion has that effect. The irony of pedophile priests, suicide jihadists, and Satan really clouds religion initial purpose. No one should molest little boys while trying to bring spirituality to the community. No one should ever kill others let alone themselves in the name of a peaceful deity. And the topper!!! How can Satan exist if God is so good? The fact that an eternal hell exists as punishment goes against a being that can supposedly create the universe!

People also get upset because the reasoning for religion is cyclical in nature. ie, you cannot define god's creation without having god as part of the definition. It is frustrating to defend with this cyclical problem. Frustration leads to confrontation.

So who spewed the hate? Are you saying that Atheists are saints. Ok St. Mia.

There are actually Christians out there who respect all religions...including atheism. I am a Christian and have athiest, wiccan, and non religious friends. I do not try to convert them. Study a lot of people in their religion before making conclusions......look at Ghandi and George Washington....then look at the Muslim Terrorists and the Inquisition.
