It has allegedly been said, a second aircraft-carrier, battle group, is moving into position in the Gulf.

Apparently US forces are on the border of Iran.

Is Bush bluffing, what's your guess?

Sorry this is yet another Bush question, I'm interested in what you think...

Not that likely, the Iranian population in general unlike the Iraqi's under Hussein largely supports it government making it very difficult to secure civilian areas, even more so than Iraq. However oil could tip the balance..

Iran has 11% of the world's oil reserves, if they stop selling because of war the entire globe would be hard hit.

Iran is semi-democratic theocracy and the most stable Middle Eastern country, its borders include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and Turkey. Insurgency from these other countries would cause massive problems.

However..Iran has just set up an oil trading exchange designed for Euro's rather than dollars, this will hit the US economy is a huge way..to explain, the US has forced 70% or so of the nations on earth to trade in dollars for oil sales, this means nations HAVE to buy dollars to trade in it. This keeps, and has done for decades, the US economy artificially bouyant, tie this is with South American oil producers turning their backs on the US and you have a disaster on the horizon for the US economy which because of US military overspending and overstretching of forces could force the US down into some very dark decisions to prevent further globalisation causing the US's dominant economic position to collapse.

So if US economists see this disaster looming on the horizon, war against those who refuse to kow-tow to the US economy may be the only solution to stop the falling of the US economy from its current artificial level back to a realistic level based on actual value.

At the moment no, this is just a flexing our muscles, "hey it's a good idea to follow what the international security council is saying" message.

Is it possible that we will go to war with Iran in the future. I definitely think so, do some research on President Ahmadabad - he really thinks it's his calling from God to bring about Armageddon - he wants war.

Right now all of that is being used to keep insurgents from Iran out of Iraq. Right now all options are on the table and the United States and other countries are trying the diplomacy route.

I think he'd like too.

I'm guessing that its Bush puff'in his monkey like chest out and beating the ground with his fists.

I don't think that even he would be mad enough to try and start ANOTHER war, especally as things are so bad in Iraq. If he did, without UN backing, I think that opinion would REALLY turn against him and he would be removed from office.

Well he started off bad mouthing Iraq and look at the result so perhaps he and his cronies aim of global domination is starting with the destruction of easily targeted nations.

I think we will wake up one morning in the not too distant future, and find that Bush has ordered Iran to be invaded, what date are they changing over to euros' instead of dollars to trade oil?.

Good question. No, I don't think so. A lot of "Bush haters" on here that tend to think differently because that's what the "media" tells them to think.
