Hello,
I was 5ft7 and 48 kg at 14. I haven't grown since, still 5ft7, and I think it's a great height. Tall enough, but not too tall to wear high heels.
I have put on a bit of weight gradually. I weigh 56 kilos now, and I think I'm just fine. (I'm 23 now) It comes naturally.
You're only 14, your body's still developping. I don't think you should gain weight. It's normal for young people to be rather skinny. As long as you feel good about yourself, you will shine! Believe me...

Dear Carly, Be patient you are very likely to continue to grow and fill out. Be pleased to have a normal BMI. At your age a problem with obesety is much more difficult to overcome especially as you grow older. Change your self image to one that says Tall is good thin is good and expect muscular changes to put you in the well built catagory.

First, from a long-term health standpoint it is better to be on the low side of normal than fat.
Second, girls usually stop growing within 12 - 24 months after the onset of regular periods.
Thirdly, you probably will add a kilo or two or three in the next few years. Then stop! It sounds to me that in a relatively short time you will be drop dead gorgeous.

Question is not whether you are "normal" or not. You might ask yourself what else you may need to be more happy.
One's physical lay-out may depend a lot on one's own parents and to a certain extent on the surroundings, and so it may have to wisely be accepted as it is.
I guess it would give more corroboration unto your life if you stopped worrying about your skinniness and growth and in stead you dedicated more glowing attention to your chores and to your friendships.
Good luck!

You are very thin, though still on the healthy side- as evidenced by your BMI. The BMI gives you a healthy RANGE (which is quite wide), so a normal BMI would apply to people with a lean thin physique to people who are a bit plump.
Actually I checked your BMI and it lists you as underweight.

I'm 5' 7" and 57kg, and I am trying to gain weight, because I think I am a little too slim. I would say you need to gain weight.
