File sharing sites ALL work the same way. The site itself, no matter what site you use, simply connects you to a strangers PC. Whatever that stranger sends you is what you get whether its a virus or a file! If you use ANY of them, you are running the risk of infection and NO amount of virus protection will catch all infected files!
You can bet if Joe Virusspreader is on one of them, he is on all!

P2P is now mainly in the realm of BitTorrent sharing, as opposed to the days of Napster and Kazaa. BitTorrent is a protocol that uses a .torrent file to collect and distribute your download from a multitude of peer's sharing the game/movie/etc. To find .torrent files, you can use such sites as: http://www.mininova.org or http://www.thepiratebay.org -just to name a few. For more torrent sites you can do a Yahoo/Google search for them. You need a BitTorrent client to manage these downloads, I recommend BitComet, I have found it to be the most complete client out there. Their website is located at http://www.bitcomet.com

dc++
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dcpluspl...
You don't get a virus by using common sense....so if you want a file and 3 random users happen to be sharing some independant release you stay away from it.
....instead you download the release from a major crack team that is shared by thousands of different sources.
I've been in the dc hubs for several years without any virus trouble...usually avg 20GB a week worth of movies, games and software
