The flat iron every 2 days could be part of the problem coupled with the ahir color. Even thoug it is ammonia free you are undergoing a permanent process that will require the chemical to lift your cuticle (the outer layer of the hair) in order to do its job) if the cuticles are not close they give the hair a rough a appearence which laeds to dryness and then eventually split ends/breakage.
You're either gonna have to cut down on heating appliances or space your color applications farther apart. You're just making dry hair even dryer when you flat iron over chemically processed hair.
You can first off try a good keratin protein treatment to help build up cuticle layer. Then get a very good mositurzing/ conditioner to give moisture to your hair after the protein treatment. Then you could use a good hot oil treatment and then rinse it out. All of these things you can get at sallys.
The key for you is moisture, moisture, mositure.

Chi flat irons are very hot and they maybe doing damage to your hair. I am sure that you are washing your hair everyday so that there is no product on/in your hair when you use the flat iron. I do a lot of the same things that you do but not everyday. So my advice would be to stop using the flat iron everyday and maybe limit it to once every 3 days. Make sure that you are using a salon quality shampoo and conditioner. When you condition you want to apply heat to open the hair shaft. You can either wash your hair first and put on a plastic cap in the shower and then rinse last or maybe do a deep conditioning on the weekends by wearing the plastic cap while you do housework.

ummm...try going to a sally beauty supply store if you have one where you live and buy a jar of this stuff called Cholestoral and it works good! i had the same problem with my hair and it worked for me. something else i did was put a bunch of conditioner and good body lotion in my hair one night before i went to bed and pulled it up in a ponytail and left it on there all night and then rinsed it out the next morning. it helped a little bit. so you may want to try that. be sure if you do, sleep with an old pillow or something so you dont ruin your regular one. i had to learn that the hard way! good luck.

I have naturally curly hair and always use a hair dryer. My hair used to be that bad as well. However, using a Henna hair dye helps, along with Aussie products, hot oil treatments and Pantene conditioners. I use a different shampoo and conditioner each time I wash my hair. I alternate with 3 different brands. It has definitely helped my hair stay healthier. Good luck to you.

- never brush it when it's wet. if you absolutely must, then make sure to spray detangler on it and finger through it first.
- dont blowdry your air, always let it air dry naturally.
- wear your hair down as much as possible. putting it in ponytails, especially tight ones, puts stress on both your folicles and the strand itself. If you do like to wear it back, wear it low and loose using a cloth elastic instead of rubber or metal pieces. Or just use a clip!
- Eat lots of proteins- hair is 88% protein, so do what you can to strengthen it that way.
- Also, smoking and caffeine have poor effects on your hair, I dont know if you indulge, but its one more way to help your hair if you do so within reason.
hope this helps!

Sounds like your hair is dry. Try moisturizing products designed for curly hair. They are made to ad moisture, but the benefit is your hair gets stronger and more resilient if you use them, regardless of texture. Mixed Chicks shampoo and deep conditioner are a great combo. (www.mixedchicks.net)

don't wash it everyday, let the natural oils build up in it for a day or two and brush it out regularly to spread those oils...Your hair needs that to stay healthy.
