I have been dating a girl for about 3 weeks now, and things have been going well. We have not really had "the talk" but we are sleeping together a few times a week. I do not yet refer to her as my girl friend.

Yesterday, she informed me that she got offered a job and accepted to teach 1st grade in Seattle (currently teaching Kindergarten in San Francisco). She would leave the Bay Area Mid-August.

Now that I know she is leaving, I am hesitant to try to take the relationship to a more serious note, as that might make things more difficult when she leaves.

I am curious about people's thoughts on the issue? Has anyone ever been in this situation, and how did they handle it? Just have fun while it lasts, or cut ties at some point sooner than later? I'm not looking to get married in the near future, as I'm only 25 and work in finance.

Thanks.

You're sleeping with her a few times a week, and you don't call her your girlfriend yet? I guess I'm just old fashion in my thinking that the feelings and relationship should come before the sleeping together. Oh well, anyway, you've only been dating for a few weeks... that's too soon to be making huge relationship decisions. If taking that job is right for her, you have to understand. If you want to take the relationship to the next level, be prepared to do some traveling.

Try the long distence thing for a while see how that goes maybe it wont even last for the next 5 month just play it by ear when the time gets closer you'll know what you wanna do

Probably isn't a good time to start a relationship. And from the sound of things you don't want one anyway. Have fun with her, don't make it an issue, just go with the flow. Good Luck.

It depends on your feelings for the girl. If you enjoy her company and feel that you want to hang with her, then keep seeing her. There's no big rush to cut ties with her. You can maintain your friendship and see her when she comes back to visit. And then you'll have a friend in Seattle for when you want to head up there to visit. Let things happen naturally. Don't try to overanalyze them.

You know, Seattle isn't that far away. Just enjoy the time that you have with her and if things get serious then you can figure out what to do then.

It probably won't work out.. I'd probably let her go if i were you.

Especially if you aren't ready for anything serious.

It wouldn't be worth your time to try and make a long distance relationship work.

If it is meant to be it will be. But 3 weeks is not that long to try to get her to give that up for you. If you really want to be with her move up there with her.
