LOL Mr. Magoo.. put on your glasses when you eat. Chew up the corn and you will digest it. Those kernals that you swallow whole have a coating on them to resist digestive fluids. That is the whole purpose by nature.... feed the animal but some escape being chewed and when the animal craps plants a new corn plant or whatever you ate. If it weren't for septic systems and sewage disposal plants around the United States new corn plants would be growing in your lawn.

It's not the sweetcorn that has trouble getting digested. It's the shells. The shiny bit. If you were to chew your sweetcorn very thoroughly, you would see very little evidence of them. The good stuff that we like, is inside.

The fault is not in your digestion but in your chewing. The covering of a kernel of corn is cellulose. Humans cannot digest cellulose. If you swallow a kernel whole, it will pass undigested in the stool. When we chew the kernels we rupture the cellulose covering and release the sugar, starch and protein inside which our stomach and intestines readily digest.
