Every morning when i wake up there's a cardinal slamming into my back window...when I go there and open the window it goes to the front window. He also does this in the evenings and tries to get in my car sometimes. It used to be a starling and a mockingbird but now it's been a cardinal for a few months. Woo hooo scary...why do they do this?

He's probably seeing his reflection, especially that spring is coming males can become have a slight aggression problem. You can try placing metal strips that blow in the wind outside your window, birds seem to hate those. You can also try placing the silhouette of a raptor, or some old Cd's on the outside of the window to try and discourage them. If he still attacks your window after that try covering the outside of your window, if you can put a screen those work well, otherwise just cover it several days so he can't see his reflection, maybe disrupt his routine ! Since you've had a few species of birds ram you window previously, there might also be another problem, ex: tunnel syndrome, bird can see in through one window and out another and thinks he can go through, or if you have a feeder closer than 10m (30feet) away from the window it increases the odds of having birds hit your window, in these cases, either put the feeder farther away, or metallic paper strips/ old CD / silhouette in the window to try and reduce the number of collisions.

You must clean your windows too well, lol. Try putting some smudges on the outside of the glass with your fingers or do not clean it as often. Most birds are pretty stupid in that aspect and will constantly run into glass thinking they can get through it.

That's strange. You might want to try setting up a feeder to distract the birds from your house. Or leave a window open and try to coax it in and make it a pet. That would be a pretty cool pet bird.

what they may be seeing is a reflection of themselves; they just don't know it. Close curtains, put up stickers, add something to the window so they will realize what it is.
