Yes, many times.

And I thank Him for doing that for me.

I'm Jewish, so I'm sure my perspective on this is far away from your reality. Have you thought what this concept is like to a non-Christian?

Pretend you've never heard of Jesus before. Would it even sound coherent if someone told you that there was this guy executed by the Romans a couple of thousand years ago - but it was for your benefit? And that actually, there's a whole story about his life, which ends when he's executed - except that he's re-animated from the dead, like some zombie in a late night movie. And if you don't believe the story, no matter how moral and thoughtful a person you are, then you're going to burn in hell for eternity. However, if you're a real bastard who treats people horribly, but just before you die you buy into the story and apologize for being such a bastard, then eternity will be bliss for you.

Actually, it really pisses me off when "Christians" act righteous because they know that God is on their side. This has been the claim of every zealous religous nut throughout history - from before the Crusades through current times, when we have Muslim extremists blowing themselves up to kill others because they're convinced everybody else's understanding of God is incorrect.

Has it ever occurred to you the world would be a better place if everyone just acted morally and ethically, worked hard, and raised their children to be good people, instead of spending time trying to convince other people that their concept of God is the "correct" one?

Not often, Mary, although at one time I did do a great deal fo thinking about it. The more I thought, the less likely it appeared to be true and eventually I was persuaded that it was a lovely myth, but had no basis is actual fact. As a myth, of course it has had a profound impact on my life, since I live in the Western, Christianized culture, and am very grateful for having been exposed to its richness.

Yes, and I am amazed at his will, love, forgiveness and sacrifice. Look upon the world today with all its greed. I think one of the greatest disappointments to Jesus would be that all that are ill do not have access to healthcare (this occurs in the name of money).

Remember all things are made by God, doesn’t that mean all his children should share in them (why not healthcare)? How many will sacrifice even but a mustard-seed from their bushel full to save a strangers life?

Happy Easter!

Your question assumes a point not proven, namely that Jesus of Nazareth died on the cross FOR me. I reject that assumption. I believe he died on the cross because he pissed off some Jewish leaders and Pilate did not want to deal with the possibility that those morons would complain to Caesar that he was allowing a pretender to the throne to go free.

It is up to you to prove that Jesus actually died for the sins of the world.

Cros-sey
Yes and my father and the crosses he bared and died because of.
Thinking and wondering why solves nothing, he would do it again and still proves no point to some. It is one who does think about him.

YES I DO! And...if I could die that way and save the souls of the whole world forever, I would do it today. Jesus didn't save any souls though. If God was real, Jesus got tortured, died for a couple days, then got to go to Heaven...EASY!

According to middle eastern tales and legends, he died because he was constantly upsetting some local powers at be in a time when freedom of speech was not fashionable.

Each and every day I try and pause to reflect on that fact.

One of my favorite songs says:

"In the shadow of your cross
I will live for all my days.
How could I forget the price you paid?"

I think there are too many "Christians" who forget the enormity of God's sacrifice and what it means to humankind.

I feel a little bad for him because His own father had him tortured and murdered.

He didn´t need to do this for me. I would have been just as happy to make animal sacrifices.

But I do feel a little better knowing Jesus used his magical powers to make it not hurt...he could walk on water after all.
