Face to face is the best....it tells that you have guts to face and tell whats going on....otherwise he/she will see you as a covered....
explain her why you think that you two shouldnt be together and why you think that its not a good match....and expect some reactions...coz you may have planned this break up for some time ,but for he/she it ll be a shock....and make sure she/he is the first to hear about this break up....coz if her/his friends knows it before she/he does then it ll be really hurting for the other party....

well, if your asking this then you must have stumble onto the idea that there really is no right way. But most people would agree that in person, honesty, and gently are all required. Don't do it over th phone or online, thats just disrespectful, especially to someone you dated. Be honest, tell them why, tell them why you feel that way, and if you are tell the myou are sorry it didn't work out. Don't say it just cause it sounds good. Causes them to think you might still wanna be together. But since "gently" is too vague I'll clarify that. Think before you speak. Don't use bold words too often. Nothing that may be offensive. Be kind but not pitiful. And don't use the whisper voice. Be confident but not loud and crude. And if they decide to argue, just choose not to argue back. It makes it easier. Don't just hang up on them. But tell them I didn't want to argue, could we speak calmly please. If not then say goodbye. Thats the best shot you got. And whatever you do, don't prepare a speech. It's gotta be natural or your asking for it. Good luck

The right way for anyone is just to simply say "Though I believe you are right, you are just not right for me. And so, it's time for us to move on." Then smile sweetly and say, "Good thing I'm NOT the only female left on the planet....If I was then I'd be feeling really bad about dumping you" ..... Then smile really, really sweetly and say "Look at it this way, I saved us the hassle of wasting alot of time that can be better spent with the "right" one.......so at least I'm giving you that time to focus on that instead of time to wonder why we even stayed together instead."

Go somewhere that is comfortable to you both...make sure you are alone and not with friends.Make sure you both have a way to leave without being stuck together in a car afterwards.
Be honest, you know the reason for the break up, walk away with pride.....and please don't say - it's not you it's me.

Face to face so then if they have anything to say to you they can. Be nice about it and if possible end it on good terms. I think breaking up with someone by text or email is pretty lame but that's just me.

sit down and talk to that person face to face, and also tell the person why you are breaking up with them, that way they won't take that bad baggage to the next relationship.

It depends how long you were with him/her. Fro just a few weeks, phone call. For a month or longer, do it face to face.

In person - you should at least give that person the respect to tell them face to face.

in person or on the phone.
you don't want to hurt them, so consider they're feelings before you pick out the right words to tell them before you dump them.
