New to Macs - security for G4 mac desktop with os 10.3.9 - are there free downloads?

I just got an old G4 desktop - my first ever mac - which I'll use for a few months before investing in something fresh out of the box. Anyway, I did a free upgrade of its progs and OS online; but I am wondering if there are any security issues that I should be aware of, and for which more upgrades or downloads may be necessary. Thanks.

Just use the Software Update feature. Set it to do it automatically. 10.3.9 is far from the newest version. 10.4 has been out for a while and 10.5 is due out this Spring.
