I lived with some people for a couple a weeks (it didn't work out, I was treated like dirt) and we hdn't talked about any rent agreement and there was def. nothing on paper.

Well i'm a bit worried, the mother keeps calling my house saying "I want the rent money for the 2 weeks you stayed here". I for one refuse to because of the way I was treated.

So I was just wondering, is it likely she would sue, and could she win? I know there are things called spoken agreements, but we never talked about me paying rent nor did we have a written agreement. She wants the money and i'm concerned that she may sue me, but she doesn't have any evidence anything was agreed upon, because we DIDN'T even talk about rent lol.

Could she possibly get that money in court?

Thanks a LOT in advance

The thing with proving a verbal agreement, I'm afraid she'll lie, and say he husband was there when a verbal agreement was made, so he'll testify with her saying there was one.

They're very crooked people...

She can try , you can take anyone to court for anything these days , however if she has no agreement on paper then she has no proof you ever agreed to live there. you do have to have physical evidence to back up or prove a case , besides it would cost her more to go to court than she can get for the two weeks , I would tell her to go for it ? I do not see her winning the rent or her lawyer fees...

Don't worry about it. If they do sue you they have no proof there was ever a rent agreement. You can always say that it was talked about, but the agreement had not been written down yet. And you can talk about WHY you left after only 2 weeks. Good Luck!

If she claims a verbal agreement she coudl try, but she would have to PROVE it. Then there is also teh fact that no matter where it was--a shared rent for 2 weeks?? It's gonna cost her more to file than she coudl get form you.

Should she have a case, no, can she sue you in small claims court and lie, yes she can.

so I would like to say, I wish I could say she does not have a chance, but of course if she and if she gets someoen to come with her, and they lie, they could win,

But normally the judge can tell, but not always

If it's a verbal agreement, it isn't gonna hold water in court. If nothing is in writing, ignore them.

Real estate deals, includung rental agreements, must be on paper. No paper, tell her to pound sand. She has nothing.

she can sue you, but I don't think she'll win.

Tell her to quit calling you or you'll file a harassment charge against her.

No chance at getting any money out of you. Just hang up when she calls and put it out of your mind.

If there was no written contract, then she has got no ground to sue.
