day - doctor said it wasn't from the meds - wouldn't that be the obvious answer?

maybe,...but probably not from the medications possibly from something in conjunction with the ingested meds.

It could be. Unfortunately, doctors don't always know the full info on the drugs they prescribe. It would probably be much more helpful to call the pharmacist that filled your husband's scrip, as they have both specific drug knowledge and a very comprehensive database. Meds are what they do!
Hives can be caused by many things, from stress to cold to allergic reactions, but lorazepam and its ingredients seem suspect here.

I don't see why he couldn't be allergic to the medication...I'm allergic to Aspirin. People CAN be allergic to medications other than antibiotics.
After my allergic reaction...I continued to have hives on and off for a month and a half. I was taking Benedryl, Prednisone, and Corticosteroids. It just took along time to get out of my system.

Yes it would be.

When I ran a quick search on the lorezepam just now, I found that lactose is one of the ingredients in it. And that is a known allergen.

Either talk to the doctor again, or find a new one that won't brush your concerns off.

hives general indicate an allergy to something. might have been the ativan might not have...talk to a pharmacist...they know more about medications then doctors do.

the meds are just a version of vallium and shouldn't cause a rash. The doctor i s correct.
