Here's the deal, sport. When you ride in a roller coaster, you have zero control over the ride. You cannot control the ups and downs, you cannot control the speed, you cannot control the path of the car. Because of that, your brain and body are confused, shocked, thrilled, tossed around, and surprised at every motion of the ride. That's the thrill of it. In a fighter jet, you have control over all these things. You anticipate the moves of the plane because you are in CONTROL of the plane. You know when it is going to dive, climb, turn, speed up, and slow down, because it is your idea. you make the plane do what you want it to, not the other way around. Picture it like this. If you are driving your car with a passenger next to you and you slam on the brakes, your passenger will pitch forward while you will stay put. This is because you instinctively know what's going to happen when you hit the brakes and your body reacts accordingly, before you hit the brakes. Your passenger, however, was totally surprised and reacted after the fact and his face probably bounced off the dash. Bottom line is it's a much different ride if you are in control of it. Go ahead. Be a pilot.

The two have nothing to do with each other. So no, it won't affect your desire to pursue a career as a fighter pilot.
My dad was a Black Sheep (VMF 214), a Blue Angel Pilot, 3 tours in Vietnam (including a tour as an FAC/Airborne), Squadron CO Alaska Air National Guard, and medals down to his toes (not that he ever talks about them) etc., etc.,
He was terrified to climb a short ladder, or work on the roof of our house, but get him in a plane, and he could make it sing.
I remember seeing his aircraft after an airshow and walking under the wing, seeing all the paint burned off from the friction of the"belly to belly" climb they used to perform.
I often ponder what he felt, while diving on an enemy anti-aircraft installation over North Vietnam while the flak was exploding in and around his plane; or strafing a ground position all the while being gunned from heavy machine guns and canons.
Somehow a roller coaster seems rather tame.

I don't like heights, like roller coasters or ferris wheels, but I am OK flying. Probably will have to do a bit of skydiving/parachute training, so you might want to see if you can handle skydiving before pursuing a military aviation career. You might want to contact an airport service provider/local flight school for a short orientation ride to see if you take to flying OK. Should be under $100, money well spent to see if this might be your lifes calling.....

Yeah i think you can, it's all in the mind, it's much like when people bungee jump they are so scared they actually want to cry and there body goes numb, but after... they wanna do it again...and again, i think you need to build up a series of tests, like go on smaller ones then work your way up, theres no rush remember you know what you're limits are, take it in small quantities... sometimes facing your worst fears head on completley rids them out of your system...like the feeling to be scared of them goes, it's like some people are scared of spiders and some arent... if you are able to overcome this i believe you will reach your dream of becoming a fighter pilot...

I most defiantly think you can. Eileen Collins, the first female to command the space shuttle will NOT ride roller coasters, yet she will fly the space shuttle. I think it's all in the mind and when you have your mind set on something I think you can do it no matter what.

Sure, but I suggest you get over your fear in the meantime. Roller coasters are nothing compared to what a jet can do.

any fear can be overcome if you have enough ambition to take it on. Don't worry about it, just do your absolute best in school, or you won't even get a chance.
