Keep the ford with the 7.3L thats one of the best already. If you are looking for something else get the dodge and stay away from the new fords with the 6.0 liter and the 6.4 liter. Everyone has a hard on for the NEW TWIN TURBO 6.4L. Few people know that only one turbo supplies you with power and the other turbo is just a glorified blower to run the egr system on the engine for emissions. Does not sound quite so impressive now does it??
As far as GMC goes.... They have NEVER made a good diesel engine. And still do not (yes i know Isuzu made it for them but Isuzu sucks too)
Too "allamerican" the Cummins engine was designed by Cummins Engine company, NOT Ford. International Truck and Engine company makes the engines for Ford and always has made them for Ford. Ford has never designed their own diesel engine for their trucks

No question, FORD !! They have the most powerfull diesel on the market. The new twin turbo pulls 25,000 pounds!, Which isnt even in sight for any other company. The Duramax is actually an isuzu engine. Dodge doesnt have anything to brag about either. The cummins was designed by ford, then they sold the rights to dodge, then they came out with the much more powerful powerstroke.

I like the Ford because it is an International Harvester Diesel and bulletproof. The Chevrolet Duramax is an in-house design that has had problems in the past - though I have not heard any complaints lately.
Point is I have never heard of a problem with the Ford/IH diesel.

Keep the old 7.3 and build it to be a monster. I have a '97 7.3 and added a few goodies to it. I can out tow any 6.0 Ford, Duramax, and most Cummins. I still get around 19 mpg compared to my sister's 6.0 with 15mpg.
I took the old beast to the drag and out ran or ran with all the moddified Cummins out there. The Duramax (modified also) could only choke on my diesel smoke.
