what can i do to stop this. my daughters are as identical as they can get. i've tried to find some way to tell them apart. i usually can byhow they dres, talk, and act . but when they talk, dress, and act alike. i really have a hard time figuring them out. please help...

Since you can't tell them apart, punish them both. If they play that game where you cna't tell them apart, and if they are going to dress alike to confuse you, then punish them both. That way, it should stop that, because if one does it, the other doesn't want to get in trouble for something she didn't do.
Is it fair to punish both for what one did? Maybe, but its not fair on you for them to try to confuse you.
Another way you could have one get a small tatoo on her head, that would eliminate the confusion, hehe.

Since they are your step daughters, I would think that their Mum might be a little cheesed off if you cut their hair without consulting her. Most twins have some little thing that helps with identity - whether its the placing of the crown in their hair, a mole, or something. A more fun way might be to paint their nails, (as part of a 'girly activity) different colours, or plait ones hair and have the other in a pony tail each time they are with you. If they live with you full time, you will soon get to know them, and be able to recognise one from the other. I have twin boys so I know the problems!!

Get the same cloths but different colors, if they both have different favorite colors then your lucky there. I had twin friends and their mom used to dress them the same, exact same but one wore the clothes in pink the other in green(well depending on the clothes sometimes it might blue and purple etc.).
You could encourage them, maybe when getting them dressed say stuff like "wow (twin one) pink looks so pretty on you ohh and (twin two) blue really makes your eyes glow!!" at that age it should work...
If they don't like that idea just do something small like tie ones hair up and not the others Put a certain hair clip in each ones hair with their name or initial on it

Put your foot down if they want something they must behave and earn it. If you want to tell them apart have there hair cut in different styles that will end that mess right fast! Or if the only pull this when they wants something Make it known that they will not get it as long as they contuine to pull this nonsense!

Maybe don't buy anything thats the same, so no matching out fits, I know it's cute, but it'd be harder for them to trick you in different clothes.Also the suggestion to cut their hair differents a good one.Good Luck

Get a sharpie permanent marker and put an x on one's hand. Then you can tell which is which. It will wash off in a few days.
If all else fails threaten to shave their heads, that should bring out their honesty about their identity.lol

give them 2 different temmporary tatoos.When they wash off just give them another.Or you could totaly ignore them.They'll eventually give up.Or u could put them in time out untill they decide to stop their hissy fit.becuase thats all it is.A hissy fit.
But get them out of it NOW! Before there too old and it won't be plesent.

I agree with Lucy, cut one's hair different, don't be extreme and cut it all off but just recognizably different, they sound too darn adorable and very smart!
