I was in my New Testament class today and we were talking about the first missionary trips. Timothy had voluntarily had himself circumsised [sp] so that the Jewish people would listen to him speak. Because that is one of their laws.
However my question
...in theory i suppose...
How would the Jewish people know wheter he was circumsized or not?

Maybe he was gay?

Or maybe he was a womaniser.

If he had been normal, nobody would have known.

I question that the circumcision was necessary in the first place. As a Jew, we are encouraged to listen and evaluate all sides of an argument before coming to any conclusion. One of the main tenets of Judaism is to gain wisdom. You can read that admonishment throughout the Tanach (OT). I am unaware of any law about not listening to gentiles. We are admonished to offer hospitality to all strangers!

I suppose if such was questioned by anyone, he could be taken into a private area with reliable witnesses and prove it. Then, with the testimony of the witnesses, he would be believed if it were true.

We wouldn't, it is not like we go around and check.
