Just one example from today's fodder:
"What makes those who hold to evolution as their religion...."

I've studied enough to understand the basics of how evolution works and I enjoy the challenge of addressing misconceptions about it here. Why should that make it my religion?

It does seem funny to call evolution a "religion" in an effort to discredit it, because they are trying to legitimize their religion. You would think they would hold the concept of religion sacred and not use it to label another concept as being false.

The reason some call evolution a religion is that you "have to believe" evolution is true without evidence. There is no evidence to date that supports "macro"-evolution. This is what you are talking about anyway. You may cite some evidence of adaptation or speciation (erroneously referred to as 'micro'-evolution) , but then jump to 'macro-evolution. Macro-evolution is one animal turning into another different animal, like a dinosaur giving birth to a feathered bird. That has never been observed ever. And, no evidence to even suggest that it might be remotely possible has been found. Evolution is a belief, nothing else.

Evolution is not a religion...possibly some who are uninformed may think it is one because its discussed here often, may have picked it up from others or may just want to get give others a hard time about it.
Evolution is NOT a religion.
Creationism is NOT a religion.
Trinitarianism is NOT a religion.
Abrahamic God is NOT a religion.

The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction.
The term religion is inert in itself. My personal practice could be heavy involvement with a car club for example. We as a group really believe in what we are doing or trying to achieve (faith). We all believe and work toward the same goal (shared conviction). So this car club is a "religion" of sort.

Evolution of species is a cast iron fact and the creationists know it and their rhetoric is only a smoke screen to deceive the uninformed. Don't treat it as a theory treat it as a fact because that's what it is- only the mechanisms involved are theoretical.

It takes FAR more faith to believe there is no Creator,,,,than to simply beileve there is.
"I thought I had left the question of the existence of a Supreme Being completely open (in my article). It would be perfectly consistent with all we know to say that there was a Being who was responsible for the laws of physics". Stephen Hawking....American Scientist, 73, (1985).

They ironically think that calling evolution a religion discredits it.
Go figure.

Because some people refuse to accept it, and those people think that evolution must therefore be a matter of "belief".
