Smoking raises your heart rate and your metabolism and smoking instead of eating will give you less calories so yes it will make you lose weight. But smoking stinks and the smoke smell gets all over you and your clothes. your breath will smell like an ash tray. You will have to go outside in all kinds of bad weather to smoke and it is highly addictive and bad for your health. so don't smoke to lose weight. Run to lose weight and then you can eat more and smell good all the time. And you can run inside in bad weather.and the endorphins that go to your brain when you run make you feel good.

It'll make you lose weight, yes.. But it is also extremely unhealthy (the fact that you are smoking damages your lungs, and being annorexic like that damages your body as a whole). And once you decide to start eating again (Which, you will), you'll gain all that weight back, and then some, because of the metabolism that you lost because of not eating.
The resolution? Don't smoke, and eat healthier. Even throw in some exercise from time to time, it'll help alot, and you won't gain weight, like you would with your friend's idea.
If you need any help with losing weight, message me.

Not really. It is a very unhealthy habit. It might cause you to lose some weight at first because smokers lose their sense of taste, so it might curb your appetite. I think that suggesting someone take up smoking to lose weight is as stupid as suggesting they make themselves throw up after every meal. I hope you won't do it. Just watch your portion size and cut back on the sweets and fatty foods. Also try drinking a glass of water before meals, it will make you feel full and its much better for you.

Yes and no. A lot of people skip meals and have a cigarette instead. The unpleasant taste kills your hunger. But skipping meals isn't an effective weight loss technique and over time may contribute to developing diabetes by causing large fluctuations in your blood sugar levels. By skipping meals you lower your metabolism so your body burns less calories; should you quit smoking and resume a normal diet you'll easily gain back the weight you lost and probably more.
This is why the best effective weight loss plan is to eat less and exercise. Regular exercise raises your metabolism thus off-setting the diet.

Smoking a cigarette does not make you lose weight. Not eating as much as you normally would will make you lose weight. Cigarettes are just a distraction but can kill you and the ones you love from secondhand smoke .... but if you really want to lose weight with that method ...

It does not help you lose weight. if you went and did 10 minutes knitting when you felt hungry you would lose weight too!!!
Its just that you do something else instead of eating that counts. Smoking has a whole new set of problems, and if you don't smoke now it would be utter madness to start to "lose weight"

It doesn't help you loose weight, it just curbs your hunger. If you aren't hungry=you won't eat. You have to balance out whether you want to loose weight while getting the side effects that cigarettes give.
It should not be used as a substitute for weight loss. If you are hungry, eat a fruit. Part of loosing weight IS EATING HEALTHY.
To suppress your hunger, try hoodia. It works!

Don't do that, do not do that. NO. You're hungrey for a reason. When you smoke, it sends messages to your brain that supress hunger pains and appeitite. SHe is losing pounds because in essence she is starving herself, not to mention smoking has soooooo many cons. Don't start to lose weight, not to mention, girls (and men) gain weight when they quit not because it stopped them from gaining, but they eat more food because they do not have the ciggerette in their hand to occupy them and they crave food to try to fill the niccotine they have lost. If you do smoke, don't do it every time your hungery, eat something healty and light and excersie. Do NOT do what your friend is doing, there are too many dangers for her health, convince her to stop that bad habit of smoking when she's hungery. More movment and less food is how you lose weight.

I use to smoke and yes, it's true. You can lose up to 10 pounds because it's speeds your metabolism up. The reason it does is because your lungs need the extra oxygen because the smoke is an intruder. This causes the heart to pump faster because it needs to pump faster.
But as soon as you quit, you gain it right back along with some other health problems and your metabolism slows down again.
I quit smoking and now I'm 15 pounds bigger. So now I have to rebuild my metabolism. Tell her about that.

no. It does not make you lose wait but it will kill you. The reason people say it makes them put on wait when they quit is because they are so use to putting something in there mouth they put food. I suggest every time you are hungry drink a glass of water no cals will fill up your stomach. Or eat foods that don't have alot of cals like plain celery takes more cals to chew then is in it. Or a piece of low cal gum chew it and you wont feel so hungry.
