I heard from someone that nail salons are NOT suppose to use callus shavers and that they are illegal, but I just bought one at a local CVS. So what's the deal?? WHY would they be illegal ??

Nope there not illegal! I live in Jersey and we have a ton of callus shavers in my house (I think we even have cheese graters to get the same job done!) LOL.

probably because they are cutting devices and can transfer disease. if they nick someone with a shaver, it should be disposed of or sterilized. the shops often do neither. and if they do change the blades out, the used ones can be considered bio-hazard waste. maybe there is some regulation in place for businesses and institutions regarding the uses of cutting devices that salons don't comply with (i.e. bio-hazard disposal)

..just my guess

to use them on someone is differnt, there has been salons sued for people contracting deseases from other people with infections and when you use one the skin is exposed is why, you can buy them use them on yourself, but honestly would you want someone else foot germs entering on your foot and causing some nasty-ness to occure to the point you end up in the hosipital.

Also they need to steralize things as well and most salons are still not doing what there supost to, best to do it yourself at home and be careful
