HUMMUS
1 12-oz can garbanzo beans
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2-3 tbsp tahini sauce (sesame paste)
juice of 1 small lemon
½ tsp salt
Drain 1/3 of the water from the can of garbanzo beans into a small bowl. Set aside for later use.
In a blender, mix together the garbanzo beans with the remaining can water and the rest of the ingredients.
Blend for 1-2 minutes until a smooth, slightly fluid paste is formed.
If desired, add small amount of the saved can water and blend to create a more fluid consistency.

Mashed Chickpea dish, eaten widely in Middle eastern area. Plain hummus usually contains olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, yogurt and some salt as additional ingredients. Delicious on sandwiches or serve as a dip with corn chips.
Besides plain hummus, here're variety of flavors available at grocery stores:roasted bell pepper, black bean, basil pesto, calamata olive, etc.

It's a blend of garbanzo beans and tahini (like peanut butter, but made w/ sesame seeds). Some people put the following in their hummus: salt, oil, lemon, garlic, parsley, etc. etc.
You can buy it in the grocery store in a variety of flavors, but I prefer to make my own and serve it w/ warm pita chips. YUM!
Oh, and it's relatively good for you too.

I make this spicy garbanzo dip all the time as a healthy high protein snack served with whole grain crackers for the crunch attacks I occasionally get instead of turning to tortilla chips and potato chips and sour cream dips which I have tried to pull away from with much work. The recipe I use is at the website below, feel free to give it a shot-it's economical, easy and fast:

It's a mixture of ground up chick peas and tahini - some people add garlic, nuts, etc. to spice up the flavor.
Hope that helps!
