It works great if u have very mild acne. Anything over mild acne wont be cured by proactive. Ive tried it twice with severe acne and say no results what so ever.

I have been using Proactiv for about 4 years now. I didn't really have a bad acne problem, but I would always have some pimples and it was annoying since back then I was 25!!!

Like any product, prescribed or non prescribed, once you stop using the product you will end up the same or worse as how you were before you started the treatment. But why would you not take care of your face? Either way you have to wash your face for the rest of you life....!

I have read that many people complain of dry skin, bla bla bla. Please note that the 3 step treatment does not come with a moistureizer. So u might need to buy the moisterizer to avoid dry skin.

I have also read that people complain that its expensive. I only pay 39.99 for every 2 months (note you can change your delivery date since sometimes it can last upto 3 months) Proactiv also has a payment plan where you can pay 20 bucks each month for 2 months. So that helps out if your tight w/the money.

Other than that, it works good for me. I have beautiful skin.

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

I know of a couple of girls that have tried it and they've all had different results. It's always wise to to stay away from products that contain alcohol, wax, dyes, chemicals, fragrances, animal products and bi products, acetone, etc. These ingredients have been shown to cause irritation and dryness. Drying out your skin often causes it to overcompensate by producing more oil, later causing skin problems. Also, products that contain mineral oi, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate the pores of your skin, sit on the top layer like saran wrap and just get wiped off over time. This causes dirt and debris to collect of your skin and give a temporary feeling of softness but have little to no benefit in the long run.

You need a pure, water based product that will penetrate your dermis and deeply clean, condition, and hydrate your skin with proper ingredients to combat acne and will not cause irritation or dryness. You might want to try Arbonne. Their products are formulated in Switzerland and regulated by the FDA, so they do not contain any of the ingredients listed above. They are pure, safe, beneficial, and hypoallergenic. They have a great acne line where people have seen amazing results! They also have a great dietary supplement to support skin from the inside out targeting troubled skin with vitamins, minerals and L-Lysine, an amino acid. I would be happy to help you and show you how your can purchase the products at a 35% discount if you're open to giving it a try. The system will end up costing $43 + shipping and tax. That's a great price for fast results, pure, safe, and beneficial products that have been proven to work. Take a look at some of the before and after pictures. Good luck.

I tried the stuff about 3years ago, and initially it seemed to work but then after about 2months my skin started to get really irritated and itchy so I stopped using it. personally I wouldn't go back to it. I certainly wouldn't recommend it if your skin is sensitive.
I've tried so many things for my acne, I notice that in times when I'm stressed that normally triggers a major breakout. Being female, I jumped onto the pill in Australia - used brenda35 which cleared me up after about 6months acne is pretty much under control now... I also liked md formulations

The stuff is a real miracle worker it works so well that your skin will look like a babies..but DON'T STOP using it because if you do your face will be so full of pimples you will look like a pizza..that's the problem with all those skin products they work but then once you start using them your stuck using them forever and that can get very expensive if you don't have the 60dollars a month..oh sure your first purchase they give you a great deal.my advice to you is to see a skin specialist there are prescribed medicine that you can use to take care of acne problems...
