file a police report and contact the credit card company and advise them of the theft---you will only be liable for the first $50 if u do as I have advised

If you have informed "Loss of your Card" immediately to HSBC and asked them to block the card, then, your liability is zero.

If you have NOT, then, your liability is every purchase on your card.

I think, you should first launch FIR and immediately tell the bank to block the card. But, still there will be some way out. Please get some help from local consumer forum office or visit http://www.consumer-voice.org

That depends on whether the loss was reported on time ie before the usage on the card. Also you would need to come to the bank permises to sort out the problem.

Please do consult with your Lawer. He can do make a good suggestion.Do you beentaken a General diary to the local police station, at the time of loss of your credit card..?
If not that, please, consult your currior company, who's delivered to which person..? Furrther, I will suggst to consult to a finger expert. It is easy. It will prove to the banker, who issued the card.
