I've flown alot. Planes almost never go down. Think of it as a large flying bus. Only your bus driver has a lot more training, alot more people helping him do his job, and a college degree. Remember that percieved danger is often worse than real danger- that's why we all glibly get into our cars and drive when the danger of a fatal accident is many times higher that flying. I believe that terror is best faced head on. Brace yourself, face the wind and move forward. Or brace yourself w/ some of that single malt scotch. I suggest Talisker.

I've flown before. The biggest thing in your way is the security checks.
You may want to take a book and a package of gum on the plane with you: The book to occupy your mind, and the gum to help keep the pressure in your ears equalized so they don't pop so painfully.
Now, inside a cloud can get a bit spooky. It looks like a very thick fog. If that disturbs you, try to get a seat away from the window.
Enjoy your flight!

I've flown all my life, bring some music to listen too, soothing or comforting, and relax, think of the MILLIONs of people that fly every day, every hour and are fine. Also, get involed in a conversation with whoever you're sitting by. It passes the time and you feel silly for being afraind when the person next to you isn't. It's not that bad or scary as it may seem.

Go Doctors say you cant sleep get a prescript of temazepam and there you go, calm relaxed flight. Or say exactly what you just explained on here and ask for a small or low dose of valium or xanax. All that meditation and herbal stuff is good in theory but just get something that works as ive suggested. Other alternatives: over the counter sleeping pills with active ingridient doxcylamine succinate possibly called Dozile and have a small glass of red wine with two of them, Good luck

Take a charm or a small thing with you to concentrate and help you relax. The last time I had to fly I wore an aqua aura pendant, that is supposed to help calm fears. It helped me. Have a safe flight.
