It could be measles or scarlet fever. If it is measles, there will be runny nose and runny red eyes, and fever will persist. If it is scarlet fever, the tongue will have raised white bumps. If it is roseola, fever will subside when the rash appears. If it occurred without fever or with low- grade fever, it could be allergy.

Call the doctor...it could be a form of strep and a simple antibiobic will clear it up in no time. Each one of my kids had it when they were around 8 yr. old....they brought it home from school... don't ignore it or wait to call without treatment it could develop into something really nasty and a night trip to the ER.

If its rough like sandpaper it could be strep
If its followed by a 3 day fever it could be roseola
If its followed by any fever it could be any number of viral rashes. Call the dr,. if your concerned.
