I give him breakfast to go in the morning and I pack his lunch. Usually for breakfast I make him one peanut butter jelly toasted sandwhich (or) pancakes (which he shares with his buddy at work). He gets coffee but I know he doesn't drink it all.
For lunch, he usually eats one small sandwich with either turkey, ham or roast beef, sometime hard salomi. It's on a small bun. He eats flan and snickers. But he claims he doesn't always feel hungry enough to eat. He always has to have his "pepsi" which I think contributes a lot to the problem.
For dinner, I usually give him chicken, pork or some kind of meat with a side dish and I see he doesn't even eat all his dinner. But late at night ... Boy does he love that ice cream! And likes it covered in carmel syrup!
I think he's eating way too much ice cream and snickers and drinking way too much pepsi! Sugar Diabetes runs in his family.
What can I do to balance his diet and if I suceed, will it prevent him from getting sugar diabetes?

He's not fat at all, it's just that his mid section is growing and I'm concerned. He knows he needs to watch. Sometimes I think he's racing himself and trying to get all the sweets in now before he gets sugar diabetes.
That bothers me because he's already assuming he's going to get it. I just want him to relax and enjoy his life. He needs balance.

Sadly, there isn't anything you can do to force him to change. However, you can (and should) encourage him to try alternatives to his normal fare. Definitely express your *perception* of his diabetes risk. One key is substitution:
Use artificial sweeteners, such as described below. A number of people have concerns about artificial sweeteners but your greater concern is reducing his chance of diabetes.
Start off with Pepsi One. This is a low-calorie alternative to regular Pepsi that's supposed to taste identical (give him a small glass when he gets home with the premise you're helping him cut back - ask him how well it satisfies - if he asks for more, give him the bottle).
Instead of flan, try him on a low-sugar flavored yogurt (there may even be a flan flavor) sweetened with Splenda (sucralose) or (less preferable) aspartame.
Instead of Snickers, see if there is a high-protein "energy" bar available (XS Power Nutrition has one that tastes similar to Snickers). It'll still have some sugar, but you'll be minimizing the impact.
Get ice cream sweetened with Splenda (I can't taste the difference) and serve it in a smaller bowl. I don't have a replacement for caramel syrup but you should be able to reduce his consumption by using a thin drizzle and making a design all over the top. He might even appreciate your artistic expression.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to make him eat all of the healthful food you prepare.

Well first of all You cant do anything for him except support him...and yes the pepsi and the snickers and the icecream is messing up your plans for him...because what he is eating for breakfast lunch and dinner are all normal meals and pretty healthy ones..my father in law cut out diet coke completely and starting drinking water in place of diet cokes and he is dropping the weight like a snake sheds skin...i would strongly suggest to get off of so much pepsi...ima pepsi girl too but its not more important than my health

Those pancakes in the morning are not helping. They'll keep the insulin levels in his body high for a good part of the day, easily contributing to additional fat storage from the other meals he eats.
Stop the pepsi, snickers, and flan.

I'm glad to hear you're so concerned about his health, but if he doesn't want to change, there's not much you can do. He needs to think about what his family members have gone through/are going through with diabetes and ask himself if he wants to have the same life. Until he wants to change his eating and Pepsi habits, he won't and he'll resent your efforts.

it's good that you care for him so much, but if doesn't want to diet, he wont. i have tried to put my husband who is 6 ft tall and 275 lbs, on a diet. but he doesnt listen to me at all, and he knows he will diabetes if he doesnt lose weight (it runs on both sides of his family). so if you're b/f refuses to cut back on the ice cream and pepsi, there's nothing you can do.

You can't control what he eats when he's not at home. But if you do the shopping you can "not buy" the junk. Thats what I did, not for my b/f but for my kids.
I buy only what is for meals, no snacks, this forces my daughter to eat dinner (which is good for her) but she dosen't eat more than that.
Alot of times people eat cause their bored. make sure this is not the case and NEVER eat in front of TV this causes a habbit.

um is he over weight?
does he work out?
my boyfriend constantly eats ice cream and junk food. but he works out almost every day. he lost tons of weight from exercising. the rest of your boyfriends meals sound healthy.
you cant force him to go on a diet... you cant change a person... he needs to realize the consequences of his actions. make he go to the doctor... have a doctor tell him what he needs to do... and maybe a doctor wont see anything wrong with his eating...
