I try to stay out of the politics of it anyway... I support our military 100%... If it were not for the bravery and strong convictions of most of those who serve, there would be no military.. I applaud you for what you all are doing over there for our country.. The only thing that my being a Christian has to do with anyone in the military is that they receive my prayers... Outside of those who have gone a bit too far in killing innocent people knowingly, I consider none to be killers or ruthless murderers... You are there to do a job, right or wrong...and it is done..
God Bless all of you for what you are doing..

Freedom comes at a price and it is not free. My Dad served in Korean and Vietnam war and is a retired Colonel....left us for bouts of time trying to serve his country...i learned a great appreciation for what individuals do such as yourself.
Unfortunately, a lot of the people think it is someone else's job to keep the peace, and are very disrepesctful towards the military. What would happen if we didn't have people like you?
Thank you for what you have sacrificed, and God bless you in your future endeavors! P.S. I'm LDS and we support our troops!

I grew up as a military brat so I have no problems with the military. I was very impressed at a early age and because of my father, I too wanted to serve. I was going to, but my mother was afraid for me, because of the Iraq situation.
I was in JROTC and loved every moment of it. Sometimes, I wish I was in the military. I see nothing wrong with it. We need a military. While killing is wrong, apparently it's all we can do to protect ourselves. Nobody wants to sit and discuss. It's sad really.

What a great question! Refreshing from the usual righteous blather we get here.
Here's what Taoism says on the subject:
Weapons are the tools of fear;
a decent man will avoid them
except in the direst necessity
and, if compelled, will use them
only with the utmost restraint.
Peace is his highest value.
If the peace has been shattered,
how can he be content?
His enemies are not demons,
but human beings like himself.
He doesn't wish them personal harm.
Nor does he rejoice in victory.
How could he rejoice in victory
and delight in the slaughter of men?
He enters a battle gravely,
with sorrow and with great compassion,
as if he were attending a funeral.

It's o.k. to join the military for the bennies, as long as the person
realizes and lives up to the commitment (maiming or even
fatal consequences) and believes in their goal.
Some have served as medics and Chaplains that don't believe
in carrying arms. Myself, David was supported by God
when he brought down Goliath., and He brought down the
walls when Joshua fit the battle of Jerico -- hence, I had no
problem in donning the uniform.
P.S. if you're joinin up ________THANKS !

I joined the Army right out of college because I think defense of the nation is an honorable duty every citizen has along with their privileges and rights. The question of just and unjust war is a seperate matter.

As a Christian, I 100% support our military and their defense of this great nation. And I thank you for your dedicated service..and I have a lot of family members in the military. I have never viewed it as murder, only defense.

I have a moral imperative to protect the weak. All the Disciples carried swords. Paul hired Roman soldiers to protect him while preaching and delivering the letters of the New Testament.
