Self defence is self defence.... no matter what the age. If it happened in the way you said you have absolutely nothing to feel bad about -- althought you might have wanted to call the pilice when you got home. Too many teenagers go around these days thinking they run the dang world -- well they don't and it's nice to hear from time to time that they are put in their place. "Good on ya."
How would that teenager feel if another teen did the same thing to his mother, or his aunt or worse his grandmother -- do they not have a right to defend themselves too.
If a teen is going to attack an adult he'd better hope he can fight like one -- don't feel bad. And shame on him for trying to attack someone he knows for what sounds like no reason.

Yes you could face some kind of legal consequence for it. The best thing to have done and to do in the future if he tries again is let him have the first 3 swings and then it is open season. just make sure you have people with you who will back you up if and when the police show up. what you could do now is to call the police and file a complaint against the kid so he knows that you are not wanting another confrontation.

I don't know all the circumstances but I will tell you a story, When I was 17 I was an undefeated amature boxer and I had a bit of a chip on my shoulder and one night I got it knocked off and I learned to be a little more respectful.Sometimes that is the only way to get through to a kid who has no respect.

Self Defense But seein that your over 18 you are going to face consequences that is if he snitches on you and if he does kick his *** again. That's what i would do.
Good job on kicking his *** though. I would've done the same thing.
But if there are witnesses that saw that he attacked you first you might get away with.

no that was in self defense and he could also get arrested for harassment and sexual harassment if he got too close the best kind of defense is offense so what im saying is that you had every right to attack him i would think 16 years olds are more mature but then again like you applied here i guess im wrong im 13 years old and i act better than this

Well for one you made one little mistake because the rules of engagement are always let him strike first so that it can be called self defense. But all you did was disable the attacker so you shouldn't ahve any problems if so explain the situation and you should be fine.

Sure you can, because he didn't assault you yet, he threatened to.
As adults, the law feels that we have more maturity to be able to handle these types of issues.
But who knows? This kid could be a 16 year old menace to society, and putting him on his butt could prevent him from being killed or going to jail.
But one must be careful...we just can't go around solving everything with physical violence. Not that I am trying to soapbox ya here, its just that cooler heads should prevail.
But if the little snot deserved it, and is a troublemaker, he got what he was looking for.....GROWN MAN STYLE!!!

Legally, no.
But realistically, some of these 16 yo kids are pretty darn big. There's one down the street from me that I would hate to have to fight. He is as big as I am, works out daily, and he holds a belt of some kind in martial arts.
I'm sure glad that he has fun working on my old car with me 'cuz if he wanted to fight I would have to try to injure him.
But, legally, no. An adult cannot beat on a juvenile.

I doubt anything will happen. He will try to lie to police as all brats do, but you can just tell them what happened.
You are allowed to defend yourself, and you did. I wouldn't worry about it. Don't let the police talk you into saying something you don't mean, just keep stating the facts over and over.
Next time, pay someone to beat the crap out of this brat kid. That is the great thing about the mob, they do these things, enjoy it, and get paid for it.

speaking as a lawyer, yes you could get in trouble for it. self-defense has to be proportional to the attack. (can't shoot someone that punches you) and you can't keep beating after he has stopped attacking you. so if he stopped and you kept on beating him then it is no longer self-defense.
