bad teeth?

Question

few days ago, I went to the dentist. I hadn't been there for two year or something like that.
I've only had three cavities before. But then, this time, i suddenly had 13 cavities and three root canals.
Does someone know what could be a reason to this?
And have some of you ever been in the same situation,
having so much discovered in one visit?
And do you think it would be the best having it all done in one visit, or ?
please answer.

Just look in your mouth and you should be able to see the cavities. They're hard to miss.

Chances are that most of them are minor cavities that they want to get to before they grow, and you can get a bunch of these done in one sitting especially if they're on the same side. The dentist will let you know.

The reason for cavities is simple, you simply had high sugars at some point and they built up. If you drink a lot of soda for instance it can rot your enamel making it easier for cavities to form.

When I went to the dentist after some years I had 2 major cavities(almost to the root) in my rear teeth that I had to have the teeth pulled. I also had something like 4 other cavities that needed filling. The worst part though was the cleaning, it took 2 cleanings and I hated having my front teeth done because they're small. But my mouth feels great now, no more bleeding gums when brushing my teeth. I also know my heart will thank me(there's a correlation with heart health and dental health).

Oh and if you have some bad cavities you'll have bad breath, that's another way to tell, they have to be sort of big ones though. So get someone to smell your breath if you think you see a big one. After the cavity is fixed the smell will change(because you don't have anything decaying in your mouth anymore).

Also you can ask your dentist if any of the cavities are small enough that they can be left for now, I know I have some tiny tiny ones that they said might never get worse and I might never have to get filled.

Its possible. Changes in you diet, medications, and physical health can contribute to the sudden change. Even the drinking water or the toothpaste you use can cause this sudden change. Fluoride in the water is usually a huge factor. If you may have decided to drink bottled water it may not have the fluoride that is necessary to help keep your teeth healthy. Drinking a lot of soda will always break down that enamel as well.
Keep in mid there are those few doctors that are a little gung-ho about getting teeth done.
Oh yeah I highly doubt you could have all this work done in one visit. Root canals take almost an hour a piece.

It is quite possible.

I work for a pediatric dentist and we have had patients
who through out their entire history with us have only
a half dozen cavities or so, but then go off to college,
come back in a year and have 12 cavities or more!

All that late night studying while sipping on cola, and often
falling asleep before brushing teeth takes its toll. I'm not sure
this is the same as your case, but letting you know it is
possible.

Not sure if your habits or envirnment have changed but
that could be a factor.

U know.. you legally own those xray pics that they took.. GRAB those babies and get a second opinion. Maybe they are trying to make some money off of you.. maybe they are right.. But it doesnt hurt to make sure right?
If it is true that suddenly your mouth has become a bacteria palace... then maybe its your diet. maybe a change in toothpaste... maybe your toothbrush really bites the big one. Look at all your options.

I dont trust them.
I took my son in when his wisdom teeth were coming out. The told me they were impacted and all needed to be removed, saying they were growing in sideways. As time went on, they came out on thier own....just fine, I may add.

I suggest, if at all possible, get a second opinion.

Yeah, Get a second opinion before you get it done, seems like rather a lot work accumulated in 2 years!
