Most people burn food because they want to cook everything on high heat so it cooks faster but all that does is make everything burn.

Your cookware could have a lot to do with it too. If all your pans are old, scratched or pitted then your food will burn no matter what you do. Try buying one good new pan and see if what you cook in it burns, if not get a new set of cookware.

Temperature too high, certainly ... also, are you stirring thoroughly if you're cooking in a pan on top of the stove? Are you checking that the level of liquid in a casserole isn't getting too low (it's surprising how quickly that last couple of inches disappears).

You could also try cooking food that's almost impossible to burn: for example by using a slow-cooker - they usually deliver delicious flavours also.

Oh - a friend of mine says that if you bury the pan in which you've burned something in the garden for a few days it'll emerge clean as a whistle (although in need of a good scrub). I've never tried it myself but other people have, so I thought I'd pass that on also.

Hope that helps a little.

Possibly you are trying to do too much at the same time you're cooking. If losing track of time seems to be the problem, try using a timer. Set it for the amount of time that your food needs to cook and when the alarm goes off, check it right away.

It's hard to say without knowing more information. Are you setting the burner temperature too high? Some foods need to be cooked at low heat, and will burn at high heat.

You are either rushing to get things done, have the flame too high or are preoccupied with other things.

I have done it many times in my life, and I probably will in the future too. An alternative I use to cooking on the stove, rushing, and trying to get other things done at the same time is using my crock pot. There are many recipes you can make in them and man more out there that you can find on the net. Good luck and I hope things get better for you.

Just be patient. Turn the heat down and just give it time.It does take longer but I think you are just trying to cook at too high a temperature.

Watch it carefully . Lower the temp. Use more water, oil or butter in the pan. Things with a high sugar content burn faster - like carrots and milk. get a non stick pan or calfanon (sp) pots.
