Try http://www.allrecipes.com . Seems as though, when I'm looking for a recipe, that's always where I find it.
If you're looking for a cookbook, I'd suggest How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman. It's the best all-around basic cookbook that I own, and one of only two that actually stay in my kitchen.

It's absolutely great that you'll be cooking for yourself rather than relying on take-aways, so have a hug.
It would be worth a browse round a local bookshop for a book of recipes 'for one' ... or two. When I was a student, far too many years ago, most of us had a copy of Katharine Whitehorn's book Cooking in a BedSitter, which was wonderfully realistic - for example, recognising that you might not have as much cooking equipment as you'd like. (Those were pre-microwave days!). There are some books around nowadays that are just as useful.
You say 'recipes for dinners,' which makes me think that you're contemplating entertaining other people for meals. In that case, assuming you're on your own - and you're certainly a new starter - you'd be wise to avoid recipes that are very time-sensitive and/or need lots of last-minute attention. So may I suggest that you invest in a book of recipes for casseroles - they'll look after themselves mostly, and if you're prepared to invest in a slow-cooker (I couldn't live without mine) then you can make just abut everything except fish without worrying about the timing - and you can prepare well in advance and have everything cleared up before the guests arrive.
I hope that helps. Lots of luck.

Italian pork chops
Put chops in baking dish, cover with spaghetti sauce, cover with foil and bake until tender. The amount of time you cook them depends on how many chops you make just keep checking them (at least 45 min.) you really can't overcook them the longer they cook the more tender they will get.
This also works well with boneless chicken.
You can take almost any kind of meat (whatever is on sale) and bake it with almost any kind of sauce (always cover it to keep the liquid in) and it will bake up nice and tender. Serve with past or a potato and veggie and you have a very nice meal.
Good luck

MAKE A PACKET OUT OF ALUMINUM FOIL AND ADD ONE BONELESS SKINLESS CHICKEN BREAST. COVER WITH HALF A JAR OF SALSA (I USE GENERIC SAMS CHOICE BRAND MEDIUM). SEAL THE PACKET UP TIGHT.BAKE AT 350 DEGREES UNTIL DONE( I USUALLY MAKE TWO PACKETS AND IT TAKES ABOUT AN HOUR).SERVE OVER YOUR FAVORITE COUSCOUS OR RICE. I ALSO, MAKE A BAG OF FROZEN VEGGIES TO SERVE WITH IT.IF I AM IN A HURRY I WILL CUT UP MY CHICKEN IN BITE SIZE PIECES AND PUT MY CHICKEN AND SALSA IN A SAUCE PAN & COOK ON MEDIUM HEAT FOR 10-15 MINUTES OR UNTIL YOUR CHICKEN IS DONE.EITHER WAY IS DELICOUS
