So i have this little sister that lives in another city she is about 18 yrs old and is very addiced to Crack. I know that she is going to the full extent to get it and it is very hard to watch this. I wanted to take her in so she is surrounded by good people but she isnt ready to give it up or dosent know if she is ready. How do i help her?...is there any other way besides just letting her hit rock bottom...Please only serious answers...for a very serious problem.

Thanks

You cannot make someone do something they don't want to. You can offer support & advice, but she has to quit on her own in order to actually quit. Some say you have to hit bottom before coming back up. You, yourself could attend naranon meetings. They are meetings for victims of caring for an addict. Narcotics Anonymous is listed in the phone book. They also have coccaine anonymous meetings. If you attend the open discussion meetings, someone there will give you insight of the disease of addiction & you will learn why some are addicts.

Where are your parents in all of this? Have they given up? She has a physiological and mental addiction and would have to go through rehab. You're not going to help her just by forcing her to move in with you. Being around good people doesn't stop the destructive behv. I guess your parents could take her to court and get help to put her in a rehab program--but it would have to be a locked one, probably, until she gained some control of her own over that!! TOUGH situation and heart-breaking as well!

let her hit rock bottom, otherwise she won't ask for help. u can suggest rehab, expensive, or u can take her in and watch her, but how long would that last, or u can let her learn from this, and seek her own help for it. she has to want to stop this, she has to see where it is leading her, she has to get disgusted in it and reach out to someone.
