Those people are really homophobes who just use the bible as a reason to cast their prejudice.

The English word "homosexual" was not invented until the early 1800's. So any Bible translated before that time will not use that word. However when you read the description of the act being condemned ("a man lying with another man as he would with a woman", for example) it is clear that it is speaking of what today is called "homosexuality". Older Bibles also does not speak of "gays", because that use of the word only dates about 20-30 years. So a translation made 400 years ago would not use it.

Languages change, that is why the Bible needs to be retranslated every generation or two.

Actually, although it does not refer to it directly, Leviticus specifically defines any sex that is not for procreation as a sin punishable by death.

However, it also defines the act of planting more than one type of crop per field and wearing clothing made of a blend of material at the same level of offense. In Levite law it seems that wearing cotton-polyester blend shirts and using contriceptives would be punishable by death.

Btw, ignore anyone that says that Sodom & Gomorah were destroyed because of homosexual activity, this is not the case. It was destroyed due to sexual immorality, of which homosexuality is not mentioned.

It does mention it in the Bible.

In the Old Testament see Leviticus Chapter 20 verse 13

In the New Testament see 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 verses 9-11

There may be a few other places.

Origin of the word itself..."HOMOSEXUALITY":
The first recorded use of this according to Webster is 1914.
Yet the abnormal engaging in same sex acts has been around a long time as referred to in the bible.

Bible references against man lying with a man as he does with a women:

Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
Romans 1:26-27
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Jude 6-7
Romans 1:18

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for homosexual and deviant sexual behavior...that is where the term sodomy comes from...

The following is an excerpt from the book, 'Insight on the Scriptures':

"Sodom, however, persisted in a course in defiance of Jehovah, becoming known for such immoral practices as homosexuality. “The cry of complaint about Sodom and Gomorrah,” Jehovah declared, “yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy.” God therefore sent his angels to destroy Sodom, with the assurance to Abraham that if ten righteous persons could be found in the place, the whole city would be spared.—Ge 18:16, 20-33."

Yes, it is there. This is nothing new, but the Romans in the New Testament made it very mainstream. Hence why it is more prevelent in the New vs. the Old.

its not the "new bible" its just the new testament when Jesus came to correct mans ways.Jesus came to set certain laws because man was not following after what God said,so it says in Romans 1:26............even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Oh, it's there in the old testy, just like laws forbidding working on saturday (also punishable by death), eating pork and shellfish, and many others. But christians pick and choose what to believe.

You will not find the word homosexuality anywhere in the Bible

But the description in both New and Old Testaments refers to homosexuality and their acts.

In the Old Testament they were to be executed - stoned to death.

Instead of relying on what someone else told you about the Bible, pick it up yourself and read it from cover to cover and you will enlightened. The Bible is a great history book full of lessons learned by man as time went on. If you want to read what is said about men who turn to other men for sexual gratification, read the Book of Romans. Truly, read the book yourself and you will be amazed at what is written withins its pages.
