Uploading is sending a file to the internet or another computer.

Downloading is recieveing a file from the internet or another computer.

A song is usually copyrighted if it is recorded and owned by a record label. The file itself will not tell you if it is copyrighted.

It is safe to say that any song is copyrighted, unless it is a local bar band or garage band.

Upload means to copy a file from your PC to a computer somewhere else in the world.

Download means to copy a file to your PC from a computer somewhere else in the world.

Assume all songs are copyrighted, period.

That said, many bands and recording artists offer some of their songs for free download as a promotion, but they are still copyrighted.

If offered free on P2P sites, etc. you are probably violating copyright laws.

When you download a file you are pulling the information from somewhere (not on your computer) and pulling it onto your computer.

When you upload it pulls the information from your computer to another place (however the info is still retained on your computer so you dont lose the data)

Most songs are copyrited especially if they are well known songs by artists.

well that difference is very simple I can put you in this way. What's the difference between take out the milk of the fridge or put it in?, it's the same with upload and download, the exception is that you talk about data (milk) and servers(fridge).

I didn't understand your other question, can you explain more?
