If you weren't scared before surgery you wouldn't be human. What you are feeling is completely natural. These surgeries are done constantly with very little problems. do your best not to worry. I've enclosed a web site on deep breathing which will help you deal with the stress as well as oxygenate your body which would be helpful with the surgery.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Anyone having surgery is scared to some point. . . it's normal.
Alot of times these "tumors" end up being an Ovarian Cyst and this is not uncommon.
Though there very well may be an actual tumor, removing it will be the best thing and will probably relieve alot of pain that you are having.
Sometimes they have to remove the ovary it'self but there is still the other one so you should still be able to get pregnant if that is what you want and you should have enough hormone production from the ovary left in place.
Good Luck

Most ovarian tumours are benign and remain so. However, some may later become malignant or cancerous. Others are malignant from the beginning. The only certain means of diagnosis are either an operation or a biopsy taken during a special procedure called a laparoscopy. Ultrasound examination is a very useful tool since it enables a doctor to identify an ovarian tumour and certain features that might make him or her suspect a cancer. In your case, it appears that these examinations have been carried out. It is also normal practice to do a blood test. A blood test can detect substances produced from the ovarian cancer and these substances are useful in monitoring the course of the disease. The size of the growth is not the sole indication of whether it is cancerous or not. Ovarian cysts can be quite large, yet completely benign (non-cancerous).
Maybe, you should speak to your doctor and ask a direct question about your condition. As stated at the beginning, MOST ovarian tumours are benign.
Hope this helps

Hi Ashley,

it's normal to feel anxiety before a surgery -- especially if you have never had surgery before.

i wish you all the best, and i'm sure you will come through the surgery very well... the doctors and nurses in the surgical departments at hospitals are always very supportive.

hugz!

It is easy for someone to tell you not to worry but we all worry about what could be. The fact is tumors are not always malignant and you should know that. You are probably in pain that will be alleviated as soon as your surgery is over. I wish you all the best.

Scared, NO, concerned, YES because problems can arise from all kinds of surgery. I however, hopes the surgery goes smoothly. All the best and think positive.

It's normal to be scared before any surgery. You might have some pain afterwards for a couple of weeks but you'll be fine.

It's even scarier to leave the tumor on your ovary.

Just have faith and believe that everything will be alright. But you never know what could happen so make sure that all of the important people in your life know just how much they mean to you. Good Luck!
