Since December 15, 2005, I have lost about 100 pounds.
I did it by controlling my food and exercising 3 times a week. I will admit I have gained a few back but I am currently unable to exercise. But you can bet money as soon as the doctors finish with my arm, I'll be back in the gym.
Dieting is a pain, but if you watch your calories you should be fine. The "folks who know" recommend a 2000 calorie limit per day for female adults and 2500 for men. If your maintaining weight this works pretty well. If your trying to lose, then you need to go lower. I've heard that if you take your current weight and multiply it times 10, that will give you the current calorie count your body needs to maintain if you are in a non-active lifestyle. I applied this when I was losing and it worked pretty well.
One more thing, make sure you get a good source of protein every day. Protein protects muscle tissue and you're trying to lose fat, not muscle.
Exercise is also not one of the fun things on my agenda but is a necessity if you're losing weight. I recommend 3 hours of cardio exercise per week and you should probably throw in some light weight training to help you maintain muscle tone. Again, lose fat, not muscle.
Best wishes with your quest!

Believe it or not i just lost 25 pounds in a month, just by staying under 1400 calores.
And speed walking 3 times a week and keeping busy.
Drank tons of water and used splenda in my coffee taste just like sugar.
The pounds just started falling off after my first week and before i knew it i had to buy all new clothes.
Never felt hungry ate the things i love as long as i didn't go over 1400 calories.
Lets say you love taco bell and one meal is 900 calories wow alot, but if you eat a light breakfast of like 3 egg whites 1 piece of toast with fruit, then lunch subways turkey wrap no cheese 190 calories then you can have the taco bell.
You never feel deprived. Portion control clean clean do whatever to keep heart racing.
Best diet ever for me, never felt weak or tired. Some days i would eat only 1000 calories because body got used to 1400 so that i got full quicker and longer.
Good luck

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! This may surprise you. For the last 3 months I have been running 3x week and eating 5 small (ca. 200 calorie) meals/day made up of lean protein, complex carb and fruit or veg. I did not lose a drop of weight in those 3 months. What I did do was lower my body fat percentage from 23% to 17%. And I dropped 1 clothing size. Bottom line: it's not all about the scale.
