Almost a year after my childs birth I have started to loose my baby weight by jogging, yoga and a few stomach exercises I don't have that much weight to lose, maybe about 1 stone, but the belly is the hardest bit I'm doing the ab work I used to do at the gym before I was pregnant but it seems everything else is pulling back into shape but I seem to be left with this little pocket of skin on my belly, will this every spring back and shrink and are there excersies I can do to reduce just this area, or is this something I have to live with forever??

No, it is not something you have to live with for the rest of your life.

You are in the wright track, so stick to your fitness plan. Some places take longer to lose fat than others. Usually where we gain fat first is where we will lose it last and the tummy is a classical example of this.

Do some cardio to sped up your metabolism, and eat a sensible diet where you reduce fatty foods and sugar (also sugar in drinks). A tuck tummy has more to do with dieting that with exercise.

So take your time,. keep on doing what you are doing, and watch what you eat. You will have a flat strong tummy soon enough.

By the way, Congrats on the baby!

While you were pregnant (and it can happen to people who never been pregnant) your posture got out of its normal alignment. It means that your lower back curves inwars, your bum out, and then in the front your belly protrudes. This causes the stomach muscles to deform. You need to train your body to re-assume the normal alignment and then with time your pouch or pot belly (I assume this is what you have) will go down. Wearing high-heel shoes all the time can cause this problem even if you've never been pregnant, that's why whether pregnant or not, you should always wear sensible shoes. You could have some physio exercises that make your body re-learn how to hold yourself.

I suggest that you try body cleansing. I tried it and really got lean quickly. I lost 15 pounds in 9 days and also 3 inches off my waist. I do body sculpting so getting leaner was my goal. My sister did this program too and she lost a lot of weight quickly. I did not know too much about cleansing but there are a lot of TV commercials about this stuff. This is a body cleanse and not just a colon cleanse, I wanted my body to get lean quickly and this did the trick! Pilates will help strengthen your core muscles (back, tummy and pelvic floor), which will help flatten your stomach, support your back to avoid back problems and the pelvic floor work will help avoid any 'accidents'. It's good to do pilates before and during pregnancy (with a pregnancy trained teacher), but it's never too late. Stott and Pilates Foundation websites can put you in touch with a teacher in your area.
