I also have a 2 year old lab, as well as a 3 year old Yorkie. I purchased pet insurance for the simple fact that Yorkies are prone to having health problems (which mine hasn't thankfully).

Anyway, to answer your question, NO the pet insurance is definitely not worth what they charge you. Just like insurance for humans, not all vets will accept the pet insurance nor will it help with the cost of doggie meds. With services like 1800 Petmeds and the like, you can get your dog's meds at reasonable prices without having the insurance. As for the "vet network" that these pet insurance companies offer, I would much rather go to a reputable vet that is recommended to me by someone who has had experience with them, rather than be told what vet I have to use. I have also discovered that the vets that are in these "networks" jack their prices up because they are in the network.

Best of luck to you and your lab and I hope that this information helps out!

i got pet insurance for my dog mainly because I feared if she got injured would i be able to pay the vet bill. Also, i found out that dogs get colds too and the antibiotics can sometimes be expensive. Anywho, I never used it and got rid of it because i found a vet that is pretty cheap and I would pay less there than if I went to another vet and used the insuarance. Bascially what I am saying is to look at how expensive your vet is and see if the insurance is worth buying or if you are close to an alternate vet where prices are cheaper.

in user-friendly terms you are able to tell if that is nicely worth it. you'll be able to desire to ask in case you get a $800 how will I pay for it. some human beings save month-to-month, some have vets that settle for installments. Others decide for coverage, regrettably some % to have the animals positioned to sleep relatively than face the hefty bill. in the experience that your sturdy with money or continually have saving s then no you're able to do without it. whether in case you have ranges the place money is tight then a first rate coverage coverage may be an option issues to envision incorporate, How long will they insure your canines for (some have an age decrease) How long will they disguise an animal for a collection situation? some will in user-friendly terms disguise for 6 months others have a lifelong disguise coverage whether it particularly is often extra costly. How lots will the disguise pay out? here the countless maximum inexpensive coverage's in user-friendly terms disguise £750 that may not even take care of a badly broken leg and after care. There are some sturdy coverage's approximately, yet regrettably they're often the dearer, like various coverage you do no longer decide to place a declare in and locate your no longer coated for it so it particularly is nicely worth paying better.

No, dont bother with it. Just start a little savings acct. strictly for your dogs care. I've researched all the pet ins. that I could find and none of them were worth it. Yes, they will pay some of the vet bill, sometimes all of a vaccination visit but in an emergency or a expensive surgery YOU have to pay the vet and then the ins. will "reimburse" YOU and not 100%. So, basically you have to pay for it upfront anyways so just save save save!

Yes it is worth it. You never know what might happen and it can save you a bunch of money. I have saved over $3000 in the last year with my dogs having them on insurance. Emergency vet bills are the most expensive and you never know when they will strike. You don't want to have to think if you can afford that vet bill before you go in.

In my experience with pets...and I've had quite a few throughout my life...I've never found the cost of pet health insurance to be worth it in the long run. I calculated it once based on a "what if" scenario, and I don't think it could make back what I put into it.
Now, if you have just ONE pet, then perhaps it could be worth it.

With my first dog, I did get pet insurance. It was not cheap
either. However, every time I took my pet to the vet, the
insurance didn't cover it. It hardly covered anything.
It's really not worth it. If something serious happens to your
dog, they don't pay for tests and I really think it's a rip off and
very misleading.

If its cheap because you never know when something going to happen and your dog gets hurt and your looking at a big vet bill that's when the insurance kicks in.
