I like it, it's very cool....but I think it doesn't have the "wow" effect the marketing department at Microsoft wants you to think it does.

It really depends on what WOW's you.

* If you like an enhanced interface with transparent windows, new file displaying in Windows Explorer, etc..then yes you'll say, WOW.

* If you're a security buff and can appreciate the security enhancements and how the O/S is locked down out of the box, then yes, you'll say, WOW.

* If you like the new file system features such as the enhanced Backup and Restore, BitLocker Drive encryption and the new ways to search your file then again, you'll say WOW.

There are tons of new features in Vista (regardless of the edition you are using) and this is only the tip of the iceberg in the direction that Microsoft is going that will allow consumers to be more protected than ever before from security threats while making the operating system eaiser to use all around.

So, does it have as much 'WOW is NOW' as they say it does? Depends on what you're looking for from a consumer standpoint and what makes you say WOW.

I guess I shouldn't have clicked on Answer this question, because I really don't know, I don't have Vista. I do know that I wouldn't buy any operating system until it's been out for at least a year, WOW or not. It took me a couple of years to finally agree to XP, I was so fond of 98! I knew 98 so well, and didn't want to take on a "new" operating system. Been on XP 3+ years now, and I feel the same way. It will be at least a year or so before I'll be willing to try Vista, and only then if I feel compelled to buy a new computer!

Absolutely not. There's no "wow" to be seen in Vista. I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone:

Stick to XP or buy a Mac.

Funny thing, Mac users never have to "wait a year" for Apple to "work out the bugs" before upgrading to a new version of Mac OS X.

Other than the pretty graphics interface and a few lame security enhancements, nope.

Stick with XP until Bill fixes it.

I've heard mostly negative things about it...
