He said that I need to stop being so friendly to people, especially on the internet. How do I learn how to be mean? I like to be nice and I thought people like nice people. I am so confused. What should I do?

You sound like a nice person. Keep being that way, there are already enough mean people in the world. Your father is probably afraid that people will take advantage of you, so just be cautious and try to keep from being naive. Always keep in mind that not everybody is not as nice as you are. Hopefully the good people in this world will appreciate you.

Cover your butt, watch your back, believe ANYTHING can happen at any time - because it's true. When you talk to someone, imagine you are actually talking to 3 or more people at the same time - because you are. Sleep with 'one eye open'.

Continue to be nice its far better than the alternative. but be very very cautious, not everyone is nice and people will take advantage of you if you give them the slightest chance. Just exercise a bit of common sense.

It's not about being mean. It's about not being so sensitive, I believe is what he means. But, I would stay being nice. It's hard to find these days. Just don't be naive.

Just be yourself, and make lots of friends.
