Ronald Reagan was aptly named this. He had an ability to speak from the heart to the American people in a way that conveyed a genuine understanding for our fears, hopes, and dreams. He was a leader in the best sense of the word. He stood strong and fast for America, which was so needed after the weakness and vacillation of the Carter debacle. There is a reason why the hostages were freed from Iran 10 minutes after he was sworn in. There is a reason why Mr. Gorbachev tore down that wall. Leaders must be strong, regardless of popularity.

Bill Clinton tried to be a great communicator, but he just came off as a sleazy panderer to people's emotions. He was a consumate politician in the worst sense of the word. And HIS weakness led to 9/11.

Peace through strength can only be achieved by a president who says what he means and means what he says.

I personally think Joel Osteen is a great communicator. He prepares a message. It is well researched , informative, and seasoned with humor and personal stories. He speaks clearly, not hurriedly. He makes eye contact and uses hand gestures. He has a smile and a twinkle in his eye, is impeccably groomed and easy on the eye. A good communicator never jingles change in his pocket and doesn't go "and, ah...etc." He stands erect. He changes tenses and never speaks continually in the first person. He needs to be interested, even excited to convey his message, tell his story, or sell his product. Can't hurt to practice in front of a mirror or tape yourself. Change the inflection of your voice. Do not speak in a monotone. Measure your words. Don't be nervous; imagine your audience all seated in their underwear!!
