Technically, yes. "Orient" just means "east" as "occident" means "west". Australia is the same longitude as parts of eastern China and Japan. The word, however, has come to mean just eastern Asia just as Middle East includes parts of western Asia and north Africa. This is a European view that has been adopted by the Americas. From Australia's point of view, terms are meaningless.
