The bottom line is to find a good breeder.
Research the breed and breeders in your area. Find out what the breeders around you DO with their dogs. Look for shows and go to one (look at www.akc.org) talk to some people.
Always meet the parents. See what they are like and how they react to a stranger---you! Ask where previous litters of pups are now--- does the breeder know? Where are the siblings of the parents? If any are dead, ask why.
Ask what health clearances the parents have and what they mean.
Here is a site with a list of questions for labs---but many can be used for boxers, too.
http://pleasantpinelabs.tripod.com/Puppy_checklist.htm
If you find a good breeder with dogs who have a good temperament they will be able to answer all your questions----and they will WANT to answer your questions. They will like the fact you are taking your search for a puppy so seriously.
So don't be shy---ask lots of questions and don't feel you need to get a pup from the first litter that looks good. You waited this long---get the pup that is perfect for your family.
Best wishes!

Ask to see there bloodline on paper.
Ask for 48 hour cooling off period so you can get the dog checked by a veterinarian and get this cooling off on paper.
Check the parents and see what they look like.
Check the boxers mouth and make sure the lower jaw isn't tooo far out of line with top jaw.
It all depend with what they are mixed with whether they are more likely to be aggressive. If it is mixed with another funloving , gentle breed then a mix is fine

First find a very good breeder. Talk with people who have a boxer. Stop them on the street and ask them where they got their dog from.
A very god breeder will ask you just as many questions as you ask them. Ask to see all paper work relaying to this dog. AKC, hips certification, eyes, ect. A good breeder will probably have the right there for you to see. Ask to see the parents! A good breeder will have them right there for you to see.
Bring your daughter with you to see the puppies. Watch how the puppies interact with her and she with the pups. A good breeder will have done temprment testing on their pups. As to see which pup may be right for you home situation.
Never ever buy a puppie who has not been vet checked!
Hope this helps you out.

Talk to your vet, and your local AKC chapter. They will know who is a good breeder and who is not. You may want to stop by some shows as well. The people who breed good dogs, breed them for the intention of showing. They will have pet quality dogs (not up to breed standard, for a reason as simple as markings) that they may sell. Pet stores and newspaper ads are not a good way to find a dog.

You need to start by finding a good breeder, one who shows his dogs in AKC confirmation and is titled and does health testing to ensure their dogs are free of genetic health issues before breeding them. The are typically a member of the breed club in their state or province. Any breeder that invests time and money into his dogs is doing so inorder to improve the breed and ensure good quality and temperment
Just looking around I notice some breeders are EKG and sonograms checking for heart troubles since there is no genetic test for
This site should be of help in finding a breeder, but it is up to you to ask the breeder questions and ask to see proof of claims of health testing
