And I don't mean "You've got nice eyes" or something like that, I mean something that made you go "Wow!" afterwards or have some sort of emotional response. For example I once complimented a girl and she burst into tears because no one had said anything like that to her before - that's the type of thing I want to know about.

Four occasions: same compliment- each person from an acquaintance to a complete stranger told me I was pretty. You see, my husband never said that, not once, over 40 years.
The stranger passed me and my two small children and winked at my kids and said, "You two have a pretty mommy."
I cried for about 6 minutes. I never got a good look at him, but those were his exact words . That happened in 1975, at Seymour Johnson A. F. B.

I ran into a guy a knew from highschool about 8 years after graduating. I was the type of person who would talk to anybody regardless of what "click" they belonged to. He had been one of the long-haired, rocker types. When I saw him he told me that my saying hi to him and talking with him everytime i saw him in the halls or where-ever gave him a better sense of self worth and that he was important. He said he always remembered that and was very grateful for it. That made me feel really great cuz I was just being me and it had a positive impact on someone. Made my day when i ran into him again.

An exercise at work sent us around with a piece of folded paper. Everyone we spoke to had to write on it a word to describe you and you weren't allowed to read it until the end of the day. I was really overwhelmed when I read mine as up until that point I had really low esteem and just thought I got on everyone's nerves. It really changed the way I think of myself.

My deputy head put on a report card that I was 'abrupt and abrasive' - I thought the guy was an idiot so I took it as a compliment and I think it helped me see that you don't have to be all sweetness and light as a strong minded and intelligent woman - sometimes you have to play tough.

my ex boyfriend(we are best friends til this day)he told me that no matter what happened in life that he loved me more than he could ever love another woman and that i made him feel whole and that he knew that i was his soulmate and that oneday he knows we will be more than best friends again. it made me feel so great inside, because when i looked at him whe he said it, i knew it was really from the heart. we have issues why we cant be together right now, but our hearts belong to one another, and we will always be apart of one anothers life!

I complimented a woman once...she told me to stop crawling..
I have NEVER complimented a woman since that time..and I dont intend to ever again.
Once a woman referred to me as 'that scruffy little man'.
..A week later, in front of all her friends, I called her a fat b*st*rd, which she was.
I never saw her again.
