Woke up this morning with swollen gland one side of my neck and a really sore throat but it all seemed to be one sided, have taken the day off work as fel really low of energy but it's gotten worse to the point where my whole throat feels like it's closing up and it's even too sore to drink water. I'm usually very fit and healthy so i'm getting a bit frustrated, any ideas/ advice?

It could be Glandular fever - (the kissing disease). You'll need to see the doctor. When I had it there was no cure - it goes after about three weeks. If you have it remember it is highly infectious and brings a spot of depression with it. GET well soon!!! (And I hope I'm wrong)

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

Have you taken anything you could be having an allergic reaction to? Meds, food?
It' s just the closing of the throat that makes me go there.
If it gets worse see a doc..i know when I'm really sick my doctor has early walk in hours where you can go in before appointments say, 7:30 and see a doctor right away.

Sounds like the symtoms of a wisdom tooth.
Eat a spoon of horseradish, and gargle with vinegar (apple-cider)
Rub some caramex chapstick or vicks on the throat.
It may just be mucous (sinus)

Go to Dr may be strep throat or something along that line.
