what difference it makes. Your worrying about how her hair will get messed up leads me to beleive you're doing it for the wrong reason.

My son was 2 1/2 when he enterred into the Catholic church and was baptized and my husband was the one who lifted him up and held him over the basin. He had him looking face down and to the slight left and most of the water got on his forhead but some got on the top of his head. If her hairdo is tight I think it will be fine but, they do hand you a towel so you can dry it right away. Dont worry...you can always redo her hair once it's over. ; ) Congratulations!

She's not really going to her baptism to impress anyone, let her hair down naturally and if her forehead is covered before the purified holy water is poured, the priest will more than likely move it to the side...congratulations on your daughter's big day coming her way!!

Have the hair plain. Pulling it back into a ponytail might be a good idea because you want the hair to run off the head instead of pooling in the hair and then to have it run into her face when she is upright.

Truly it matters little. Her bangs will get wet, not much you can do as far as styling. Just have her as cute as a button, comfortable and please explain to her what's going to happen. In fact during bathtime, perhaps practice so the little thing doesn't get scared but realize (the best of her ability) that this is a very special time.

You wait THREE YEARS to baptise you child and your biggest concdern is her hairstyle?
Sigh.
Put it in a ponytail. Yes- her hair will get wet- that's what happens in a baptism!

Take no thought for this matter.
Your little angel is perfect as is.
There is no such thing as an ugly child, only an ugly onlooker, who may look through the eyes of cold judgement.

Some priests only dabble a little water, some dump alot. You never can be sure. Her little head is going to get toweled off, so just keep it simple.

Do not pull all her hair up, it will ruin her baptism and she'll turn to praize satan later on. I mean really, you have found a terrible issue...
